Jurassic Park Logic

>Lion is stalking you, just about to pounce
>"better roar obnoxiously loud, RAAAAAAAAR"
>Crocodile is under the surface, about to pull you into the water
>"better roar obnoxiously loud, RAAAAAAAAR"
Can you imagine what a terrifying movie that would've been if they used this sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpO_ov2iWyI [Embed] for picrel.
But no, the big oaf has to scream like an autist to scare away its food.

    no, because you're a gay
the sound they've constructed for the purposes of the movie is absolutely great and has rightfully became very iconic

I always had a problem with the elephant component of the roar. It always sounded off.

Alternative interpretation: the Jurassic Park dinosaurs have seen enough humans through fences to be territorial towards humans and any eating of people or vehicles is tertiary.
    >t rex silently kills and eats goat
    >t rex gets noisy when dominating cars/humans/raptors

This guy gets it. Rexy was playing with the car. Rexes had the best eyesight of any terrestrial animal, literally multiple times stronger than our contemporary eagles and hawks. JP Rex is way more plausible than given credit for. Debate me on this if you’d like, and I don’t mean that in a passive aggressive way.
I spoke with a vertebrate palaeontologist recently who claimed that the JP T. rex is the BEST depiction of any dinosaur in a film.

Her pupil contracts before it hits the light in the scene where the kids shine the light at her through the window. She was eye pinning like an excited parrot

OPs post completely falls apart when you remember that the t rex almost grunts as it emerges from the trees to kill and eat the gallimimus, what it would consider prey, and it was otherwise completely silent. it most likely saw humans as rival predators and bellowed for intimidation. I think it is up there for reconstructions and hope this fat rex fad dies down soon so we can get more reasonably gracile rexes

Yeah, I appreciated it when they made the Trex unable to see moving things. Finally some plausibility in my dinosaurs.

ANY Dinosaur in film? I'd have to think about that...

Ironically, video games are doing better than mainstream paleo"art".

        >T. rexes were likely loud as frick. It's a big god damn monster.
Can confirm, crocodiles are big god damn monsters and archosaurs, and I've heard them roar loudly before ambushing prey to make it a fair fight.
It's only humans who have an obsession with being sneaky, REAL animals are loud and obnoxious and make their presence known before having honourable duels.

I kind of like this interpretation. Honestly, I think it's more emotional outburst/attempt at intimidation so their prey fight less.

More like GRAAAHS like an insecure armless b***h. What does every animal do when they see walking, hyper-aware food? they stalk it. They don't go GRUUUUUUH and chase it down at 15 mph like a downy would a falling baby carrot.

Tigers don't roar while hunting, they're ambush predators kek. All big cats do roar, but it's to defend territory.

Dinosaurs could most likely roar like crocodiles. Whole they wouldn’t roar most of the time, when they do they genuinely can piss your pants

            tl;dr yes they probably did
Dinosaurs lacked a syrinx, the organ responsible for bird vocalization.

12:57 This is what modern birds sound like when they lack a syrinx.
Tone it down proportionate to how big the T-rex was and you have a VERY deep hiss/grumble. T-rex also had sensory organs that were attuned to drastically low frequencies.

Cassowaries have a syrinx but it's primitive, and you can tell right away.
If any of you think a large bird that grumbles isn't scary, try calling a cassowary a humming pussy within disembowling distance.

Doesn’t mean they can’t. Ostriches have disemboweled people and they don’t even have a giant dagger claw like a cassowary

The worst part is, they're fricking wrong about just about everything. T. rexes were likely loud as frick. It's a big god damn monster. Are elephants quiet? And their hunting style was likely more like a monitor lizard than anything because they're a big stupid reptile.

More like GRAAAHS like an insecure armless b***h. What does every animal do when they see walking, hyper-aware food? they stalk it. They don't go GRUUUUUUH and chase it down at 15 mph like a downy would a falling baby carrot.

This is true, but don't get wienery. Pretty much everything paleopseuds believe about dinosaurs is completely the opposite of reality.

Somehow I doubt an ambush predator who’s entire strategy and anatomy is based around not being noticed is going to roar at something to make it a fair fight. You are right that crocodiles are pretty vocal though, muggers can roar almost like a lion

I like the idea of T. rex making low rumbling sounds, but people seem to only see it in black and white and jump to them only being capable of making low rumbles. Even cassowaries which rumble can make a decently diverse amount of vocalisations
3:40 in this vid sounds like a serious dinosaur
