Construct buildings and living spaces to trap gasses. You pump oxygen in from the outside with ventilation and trap the carbon that collects at the lowest point of the building. The only loss is the basement or lowest level.

I have had some ideas about taking millions of tons of basalt, milling it up and exposing it to water and then leaving it open to the air over some sparse, mostly barren part of the world. But well the ozone layer has pretty much healed itself and later I made the calculations and it would take an insane amount of satelites to make barely a bit more ozone that the UV light already makes when hitting the atmosphere.
Doesn't lightning that also create a lot of nitrogen dioxide? That's a pollutant itself, it's also one of the sources of nitrogen available for plants(eventually, it gets processed a bit first by microbes iirc), so it might have issues with algal blooms/pollution if you did that in one big area.

Yeah, although I wouldn't beat yourself up over it. It's not a bad idea for potential colonizing of other worlds though, as a means of creating a quick ozone layer(or to speed up its formation). Although a dedicated factory with UV lights and its own production line might work better and avoid the nitrogen dioxide issue.

Nah, I think for rhinos and elephants at least we should have captive breeding programs for elephant/rhino meat and ivory. Make poaching unprofitable and release a number of the captive bred individuals every year that you produce back into the wild. Florida and Louisiana kind of do something similar with gator farming where they'll take gator eggs, hatch them and raise them up and then release a portion of those raised gators back into the wild that'd be equivalent to how many would survive naturally to that age.
I think we should be doing the same for manatees and I also think that for the shark fin soup stuff that we should be farming sharks like Bonnetheads.
I'll also put something in this thread that's a bit wackier for fixing environmental issues. I live in Florida and we have tons of invasives here and I think the best way to extirpate(make locally extinct/drive out of an area) is to utilize the road infrastructure to set up traps specifically designed to target certain invasives and to make a bill that lets drones/workers to get onto private property that isn't inhabited and allow them to sweep out and kill any invasives and to remove trash and the like. Using the road infrastructure in this way allows you to break down the state into separate areas because the traps near road infrastructure hinder mobility/migration of populations. This way you can sweep through and clear out whole portions of the state of any invasives and then move to the surrounding regions until you've cleared everything out with just cursory patrols in previously cleared areas to kill any stragglers to a point where their ability to find a mate and reproduce is near 0 in probability over the course of their life(you could always derive formulas for this based on population density for these animals and thus just make sure that population densities for any invasive is significantly under that threshold).
I actually intend to make a really dumb, rambly video thing in the future about doing this to eradicate mosquitos from this state(with proposals on how to replace them).
