Its actually impressive how sophisticated they are for a reptile.

Its actually impressive how sophisticated they are for a reptile. Where the rest of theropods like this or its the byproduct of being feathered?

Why is some people so fricking mad about birds being archosaurs?

The real issue with the "reptile" grouping is that squamates, chelonians and archosaurs are grouped under it. If you compare birds to other archosaurs it's not surprising they're intelligent because the other extant archosaurs are also generally much more intelligent than most squamate or chelonian reptiles. They have complex social behavior including parental care, circumstantial cooperative hunting, trap laying and engaging in play behaviors, recognizing different individuals both in their own species and in others including humans.

Reptile is a colloquial grouping developed during the age when we still considered whales and dolphins to be fish. The whole birds = reptiles take is garbage. Birds are birds and birds descended from theropods, which were dinosaurs, which had little in common with squamate reptiles beyond superficially similar physical traits and a distant shared ancestry. Which they also had in common with synapsids, yet you don't see some moronic sophist going back and trying to retcon all mammals as reptiles. Instead they're trying to do that with the equally moronic everything = fish take.

I know this is a crypto feathergay thread but I don't really care. My kid's elementary school teacher is pushing this moronation now. And I'm having to sit him down and explain this shit to him. Next parent teacher conference we're going to have a discussion about introducing moronic hot takes you learned on reddit to your lesson plan.

I blocked his channel after he started subtle BLACKEDposting. Just goes to show you the quality of the person behind the "DUHHH BIRDS IS REPTILES" movement.

what the hell are you talking about man?

look, just internally replace the word "reptile" with "diapsid" and it works just fine, you're being overly dramatic for something that isn't really a problem, it's just a fun thought experiment to showcase paraphyletic inaccuracies in past taxonomy.

The black kingsnake joke was years after the "You're the Hagfish or Reptiles" video. I think you're over sensitive to shit like that, it's like a black guy getting mad about the buckbreaking meme, pathetic and low T.

There was a Clint thumbnail about black kingsnakes earlier this year that was a sitcom humor level reference to the old "once you go Black" coalburner cope. Some people got really riled up.

Am I stupid? Or is this just something that was schizo'd into reality? I genuinely don't see anything wrong. Is it because he's holding it and smiling? He does that on every thumbnail.

Sorry, it was about rat snakes, not king snakes, I misremembered. Anyways, most of the people who get mad about this are not having children and people like Clint have lots of children, so you can hardly cry about white erasure or whatever when a dude has 4 plus pale little wierdos in his own image running around.

Mormons, other white people living in the intermountain west due to Mormon cultural influence, etc.

Isn't it funny how that's always the case? Childless incels seething at white dudes with like five kids who seem to legitimately enjoy life and their weird hobby.

They pretend it's just shitposting and then they bring it up for years and years after all the context has been long forgotten...

Do teachers not teach from a curriculum in third world countries like the US?
Anon you're not wrong for wanting to teach your kid the truth but also teachers don't get to choose what they teach in normal countries. Maybe look up whether or not they're forced to teach this shit before embarrassing yourself at the parent-teacher conference.

anon, in high school circa 2008 I had a math teacher tell our class that faeries are real and influence human behavior, that fluoride in the water is why we can't see them anymore, that the mayan pyramids were ancient electricity generators and the real world history would be revealed in 2012.

Batshit crazy, and yet, they understood the world they're living in more accurately than 95% of the population.
Anyways, birds are birds. If they were something else, they'd be called that. They're called birds, though.

Birds are dinosaurs and also birds. Common speech isnt a rigoroue, logical classification system so to smart people you sound like this
            >YO SHIT AINT NO SWEAR WORD POINDEXTER, IT TALKIN SMACK, IF IT A SWEAR WORD THAN WHAT IT SWEARING ON

If y'all so smart, you'd know an asteroid killed off all the dinosaurs. Y'all act all high iq with your big words, but I knew more than y'all by the time I completed middle school.

You don't need to retcon mammals as reptiles because there is already a group for that, amniotes.
