When I was younger I went to one of those small zoos that had baby animal meet and greets. You weren't allowed to really touch the baby tigers because they didn't want people getting scratched, but you could play with them. Anyway, the atmosphere of the whole place was sketchy and I realized soon after it wasn't a good practice.

Go to Egypt and hit the tourist markets. There are always people that charge you a couple bucks to hold a lion cub.

Why are lion children called cubs and not kittens? They're cats, not bears.

I did some research about this, and apparently the exotics petting zoo industry leads to a lot of unethical and inhumane practices, especially for big cats.

Unfortunately, It's best to just forget about ever paying to go pet baby lions.

The only way I could see it becoming a reality is if you go into a line of work where you're exposed to that sort of thing

mostly starving them to death because they're not popular enough to pay for the enormous amounts of meat they eat.

nope, but I know of one local petting zoo and big cat rescue that was shut down near me a few years back. They had 30-some lions, tigers, and other big cats that either starved to death or were starving at the time they closed. Donations weren't paying the bills, entrance fees weren't paying, and they couldn't beg enough road kill and slaughterhouse scrap to keep the operation going.

She's fat, but that's another problem all zoo cats face. Not even the best zoo can provide them with as much exercise and activities as the wild.

They become too dangerous to pet when they get older, so they are treated like shit after their pettable phase runs out. It's a nasty cycle.

        >breed tigers
        >Sedate and drug the cubs so they can play safe in petting zoos and exhibitions, aso, a sedated lazy cub is less likely to attack, and the owners ain't gonna risk getting sued.
        >Sell them cubs to zoos and private owners
        >Cull the remainig cubs once they get older, since the maintenance cost is fricking expensive
        >Sell the body parts in the black market to chinamen or private collectors.
        >Only keep some inbred breeding stock
        >The white ones are extra inbred and carry lots of genetic diseases, but they're pretty and attract more people.

        https://www.discovermagazine.com/planet-earth/the-ethical-problems-with-breeding-the-white-tiger
        >In fact, every white tiger in the U.S. is descended from just one tiger, named Mohan. In 1931, people gifted Mohan to a maharajah in India, and in 1958, they bred him to one of his daughters and created the first litter of white tigers born in captivity. They transported one of those cubs, Mohini, to the U.S. and gave her to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. The zoo later bred her to one of her offspring, continuing the inbred line.
        https://www.worldwildlife.org/stories/the-truth-about-white-tigers
        >Captive tiger cubs, including white tiger cubs, generate a large amount of revenue for the facilities that own them, and that funding often does not reach the field conservation projects they say that they support. Small tiger cubs are relatively easy to care for, but the constant stream of new cubs needed by many facilities for photo ops or cub handling for paying customers creates a bigger problem when they reach adulthood. Adult tigers are expensive to care for and require larger and more secure enclosures. To reduce their numbers, some captive facilities kill their tigers once they reach adulthood and sell their parts to supply the illegal tiger trade, making a profit for a second time.

breaking their legs so they can not attack people while they take pics with them. that is a known particular case from some shithole. can't remember where that was, google it.

Most of the articles I could find talk about animals breaking visitor legs. The only opposite case happened when a flamingo had its legs broken in Illinois, so apparently Illinois is the shithole.
