I looked up "mount rainier new monitoring equipment", and found this from last year

They might be installing stuff from that 2019 proposal, recently approved(?)
Over the last decade there's been a lot of new seismological equipment deployed as high bandwidth telemetry and new sensing systems have become inexpensive enough to stick all over mountain ranges. If a bear rips ass on Rainier, the USGS will know about it.
I can't remember what show it was on but for a long time they were using government-grade GPS chips so if some land moves a few inches they know about it.
