reality. commercialized agriculture grows too much fricking meat so the amount of animals being grown for harvest exceeds the amount of normal feed we would use otherwise (things not suitable for humans, land not suitable for agriculture).

on average people eat 7-10x more meat than their bodies require.

                Anonymous

                >than their bodies require
Very talmudic phrasing. “Excessive” meat consumption is healthy for brain, muscle, and bone growth. The only way you can eat “too much” meat is if you’re taking in more calories than you burn, but that’s not unique to meat.

                Anonymous

There is a point where your body stops processing it for nutrients and you just get fat (=estrogen production) and have greasy shits unless you down fiber pills. This is also the point where most people sit. It also heavily depends on which meat you're eating. You can consume far more fish than you can cow.

I guess you never heard of mal de caribou, or rabbit starvation. It's when you eat too much meat and it can fricking kill you.
Here's an ancient account of Roman soldiers fricking dying because they ended up eating too much meat
                >strange terror in the Roman camp. Their soldiers were sick from watching and want of sleep, and because of the unaccustomed food which the country afforded. They had no wine, no salt, no vinegar, no oil, but lived on wheat and barley, and quantities of venison and rabbits' flesh boiled without salt, which caused dysentery, from which many died.

And for the record, I do in fact eat meat, but I eat more plants than meat on any given day.

one is in the case when it's clear that the object of the value judgment is numerical. that may still allow for disagreement, but if the value judgment encapsulates comparability of hypocrisy, it follows that instances are comparable (both sides agree to the sense)

Serious response this time: it's a popular misconception that veganism is about diet (like vegetarianism). So feeding on your mom, mother's milk, big tiddy goth gf's milk, eating a roadkill straight from the street, killing a shitbull in self-defense and slurping it's brain, grilling family pet that died of old age for barbeque are all technically vegan. Not very appealing but vegan.

Generally a philosophy or whatever, with a goal of not hurting other conscious beings. If I had my own farm I probably wouldn't care, but in reality factory farming relatively smart mammals (cows/pigs) is a pretty shitty industry.

I don't think I've heard a logically sound argument for why ANYTHING except the arguer is conscious or capable of suffering from anyone who does not believe in some kind of a soul. Ever. basically they dont know or care what the truth is. all they know is that they feel bad when they imagine something with two eyes, a mouth, and expressions or vocalizations they can correctly or incorrectly ascribe emotions that may or may not exists to being "hurt".

that's all veganism is. projecting your humanity onto something. however it most likely lacks it, and you can't even prove other humans are human, you just assume they are because they are biologically and behaviorally so much like yourself.
