I'm basically surrounded by corvids who hang out on huge trees 20-50m away. They frequently fly over my house and it just feels like they own the area in terms of birdlife. How do I draw attention to them and start feeding them?
They are clearly thriving so putting out food feels kind of pointless.

I wish I had corvids near me. All we get are grackles, which are cute, but I want to build a relationship with the crows.

Frick corvids, man. They're the ONLY things that still prey on my hens.

8ft cement walls around the property to keep out land preds, metal fencing all over and below the chicken runs keeps out hawks and rats
But not fricking Corvids, the crows just poke their beak in through the welded metal mesh and kill chicks in one peck or injure my chickens.
No reason either, they're just buttholes.

So if crows can not only remember faces but also retaliate or reciprocate depending on treatment, do they develop biases for or against people who look somewhat similar? Can crows be racist?

There's a bunch of crows that hang out outside of my gym, and my coach recently started feeding them peanuts and they've gotten huge from all of the protein. He lives just a couple blocks away and they follow him home where he sometimes feeds them meat. He loves it.

Several years ago I saw a vid (I think it was about 1:30 mins long) on youtube about a crow or probably a raven landing on some persons terrace and that person talk to it, the raven was making gurgling sound from time to time, and I think the man gave it water or food, this was happening in winter (there was now everyehere) in England or Wales and the man was talking in some regional English or Welsh accent (a very pleasant sounding accent), unfortunatrly I haven't saved the vid and now it may be gone, has anyone got this video?

Used to feed cats at my work and crows used eat the food and I’d have to walk about a 1/4 mile to the front of the property and a crow used to fly along with me-land a ways ahead then wait for me then fly ahead plus it would wait for me to come out ofbyge building ahd go back with me.

Supposedly if you befriend a crow, either a single or group, they will tell their friends and their children, and their children will tell their children's children. If you give them food and are nice to them they may even bring you gifts like shiny objects.
And if you're an butthole to them they'll drop tell all their friends about you and you'll have a murder of crows following you for life, doing dive bombs and dropping rocks on your head.

This got me thinking. How does a community of crows "keep score" of which humans are dicks, which are neutral, nice, or super nice? Do they have some sort of name/word known only to crows for each category of human with only a few set words/categories to put humans in? Or is it more a gradual gradient, or numerical like China's social credit scoring system??

They remember faces, I doubt they use names. When youve been a dick to one he probably just goes:
      >hey look at this butthole, get him!

I tried giving french fries to the seagulls at local McDonalds, but the crows were guarding the parking lot.
They'd watch and wait for a gull to try and pick up one of my offering. When the gulls would try to take the food the crow's would swoop in, chase them away, and deny all birds the potato treats. The crows were not hungry and refused to eat the fries. Their only desire was to stop other birds getting any fries.

          Anonymous

crows like to save food, they don't like to eat when they don't feel safe so they do a lot of caching food and then come back later after they've scoped the area out enough or have some crow bros to watch their back. Normally they'd dig a little hole or cover them in leaves or something but there's not much to work with in a parking lot.

I have more cardinals than any other bird save for breasts in my feeders. Upstate new york. Peckers are less common. Blue Jay's even less.

They're rare here, mostly we get sparrows and grackles. I should put up a bird feeder when spring comes around, though we'll have to change the location.
We had it near our window, but the birds are very skittish and easy to scare off.
