how do they know the marks weren't from the flight feathers on the arms?

The big question is, is OP off his meds or having an episode, or does he come here to spam a million feather argument threads when he feels he's more coherent? I'm reminded of the times when he went off script mid-thread being angry about dogs or being a creationist or whatever

    I've also heard that this

Might be one of the Wauf schizos in a less coherent state

The combination of smugness and desperation paleopseuds always muster when their bullshit is exposed by just posting the actual fossils always fills me with pleasure. It's like I can actually smell their brains being turned into burnt toast.

Not that I'm on team "can't pronate", but how could you tell that this is pronated wrists instead of supinated?

Funny, it was fine when your side was seething about people giving accurate hands to Theropods though wasn't it? How many fricking decades did we have to hear this "Theropods can't pronate" bullshit?

You were wrong. You are always wrong. Always will be. Because you're not people. You'r emergent non-sapient, entropic phenomena of a dying society.

      >I can’t imagine anything more pathetic

      >seething about the position of a dead animal’s hands because you're ESL and don't understand what the words in papers mean even if they actually agree with you

That's funny, because Carpenter was EXQUISITELY clear about what he meant in his bullshit paper.

Why tf would its forelimbs be that low

Noone knows. But it obviously only happened briefly. Perhaps it was dragging its hands across the mud sniffing low or something. What's important is the orientation which proves at least Acrocanthosaurus regularly held their hands in a totally pronated position.

Not that I'm on team "can't pronate", but how could you tell that this is pronated wrists instead of supinated?

      >instead of supinated
Lol. The same way I can tell your feet aren't on backwards. What the frick kind of drugs have the feathertrannies been slipping into your starbucks?

No it wasn’t seeing as I never had a side. I never even took part in this moronic debate or participated in your shit flinging contest about a fricking hand position. Dinogays are a cancer on this board

So you can tell what direction the hands were facing from these trace fossils? You must have much higher resolution photos of the trackway than I’ve been able to find.
As I implied, I’ve never found the “theropods can’t pronate their wrists” claim to be as well supported as many do, but we need to be careful of the degree of certainty that we assign to evidence for various things.
Perhaps high resolution imagery would provide evidence of directionality here, but what I’ve seen sure looks like 3 grooves from fingers being drug that did not preserve well enough to tell me if the palms of the hand were facing forward or back.

Obviously one is more likely than the other, but in the context of this find, saying you know definitively what the answer is seems presumptuous.

We can tell the angle of the digits. It's possible the hands were totally upside-down, but there's literally no reason to assume this since the opposite perfectly matches other dinosaurs and crocodilians and backwards/upside-down hands literally make no sense.

          >in b4 the scratches were made by its feet
Are the israeli dino overlords at apple in the room with us now anon?

          >the scratches were made by its feet
The schizo has no answer to this

They clearly weren't. The stride of the feet is unbroken and the claw marks are different from the feet. I would think this was obvious from the tracks.

I don't understand. Theropods can pronate their wrists. Their resting position is inward is all. Kinda like humans actually.

      >Their resting position is inward is all.
No it isn't. This belief is based on ONE paper that made flawed conclusions based on the bones of the hands, making assumptions about the arrangement of the ligaments. See pic related. If this was all the information you had on crocodile hands, you'd swear they couldn't pronate their wrists.

Except this is what it looks like with ligaments.

Again, this ASSUMPTION that Theropods regularly held their hands like humans is not based on anything factual. It is an ASSUMPTION based on just laying the bones flat on a table. Here are Hadrosaur front foot prints. Same 20-45° angle as in crocodilians.

Now why is it if any random unidentified thing is found in a dinosaur fossil it has to be feathers, but when clear theropod forelimb scratchmarks are obviously in evidence, we have to start doing mental gymnastics?
