I like to prowl on all my pets. I'll sneak up on them and when they spot me I freeze in mid-step and stare them down. Basic predatory body language will make any animal freak out even if they know you well.

Depends on how fearful your dog is naturally. Always a bad idea to do this on pit bulls and such because they're already fearful enough, if your body language is convincing enough they might actually think you were gonna kill them. A lot of the random snapping pit bulls do is because of this kind of playing, they genuinely think their owners are turning on them so they attack.
