How would a civilization of birds differ from our own?

How would a civilization of birds differ from our own? How would flight impact the way that their buildings and cities are constructed?

It would be exactly like Angry Birds. You would not want to be a pig.

Bird racism would be rampant. Ruling class Eagles and Hawks, but secretly controlled by Vultures who pose as harmless scavengers but really are conniving and scheming. Everyone blames everything on the eagles and hawks, even though the crows are resoonsible for the majority of bird violence.

lol, that's only if birds were actually like the uninformed stereotypes people assign them.

You're assuming there can be more than one intelligent dominant species at a time, it cant

Probably lots of high dwellings with grated or no floors because of both sanitation issues and security. Birds don't have a lot time between when they feel the urge to shit and when they're shitting so they can't really have a lot of bowel control. Even if they drove cats and most of their natural predators and competitors to extinction like we did they'd probably have lingering fears about that. Birds have a lot of different mating behaviors and social orders so like I'd need an example species to really go much further with it.

      Imagine bird public transportation.

But to build a civilization they'd need to learn to manipulate stuff at high level of precision, which means they would almost certainly lose the ability to fly.
      So no high dwelling.
And birds can somewhat control their bowels, but it's harmful for them to hold it in for too long.
So to build a civilization they'd have to evolve to control their bowels more.
So a bird civilization would have a lot of designated shinning places, and very common bowel issues due to some birds holding it in for too long

        >Imagine bird public transportation.
I'm imagining a bunch of giant dyson fans set up to make a forced air current powerful enough to let them glide anywhere without warm air currents.

Wouldn't it be just easier to burn shit on the ground to make warm air currents?

Op here, I’m asking this to get ideas for world design for a project I’m working on. For context, these birds have hands capable of manipulating tools, but they’re part of their wings
I guess what I can basically picture on my head would be that most structures would be packed vertically, there would be a lot of perched attached to walls and buildings, many surfaces would be fitted with mesh, and large valleys and gaps where bridges would typically be present. Outside of that I can’t think of many more interesting concepts to take advantage of. Maybe since birds need to be lightweight for flight, most structures would be built a lot weaker than we’re familiar with, thin walls, lightweight truss systems, etc

I like this concept a lot, infrastructure that can control the wind or create large air currents makes a lot of sense here.

Why would birds need a public transportation system?

Though the designated shitting places would be intriguing as bird feces relies on natural microbes and bacteria to break down effectively, so assuming they develop non-natural infrastructure they would need some way of managing it all, as bird poop releases high amounts of ammonia and when dried becomes an ideal delivery for fungi spores as the crust is kicked up and aerosolised by wing flaps.

          >Why would birds need a public transportation system?

Because these imaginary birds have developed a civilization, which means they must have evolved the ability to manipulate tools on par with us and might not be good fliers, or fliers at all.

And aside from that, if they have a civilization they'll need to carry stuff. How would kid birds fly to school with a backpack full of books? Or a bird coming home from grocery shopping.

you do realize that birds already use tools and carry things despite flying right

using a stick you found on the ground is a bit different than building a ratchet and socket set to assemble a machine.

the type of tools birds use and the weight of things they carry will never allow them to build a technological society.

you're anthropomorphizing, why would birds ever create those specific human objects
Actually I don't think any bird species would ever reach our level because there's no evolutionary pressure and they lack our precise hands, beaks and claws aren't substitutes

How would they build a civilization without specialization concentration, education.
Come on tell me about these big bird cities that don't need specialized workers, large buildings, import export of raw materials and food stuff, education.

Come on tell me what kind of civilization are you thinking about

Yeah a tiny stick. We can also carry sticks around.
