Ignore trainers with a clear GSD/Mal bias who style themselves as “K9” trainers unless you seriously want that master slave relationship with a working felon-biter. That kind of training really wipes out your dog’s personality and makes them unfulfilling as a regular pet.

The point of German commands is to use a language unfamiliar to other people. Pick a different language other than German. It can be anything - Hawai'ian, Chinese, Polish, Zulu, Nahuatl. Just pick something with relatively short words for what you want to command and you're good.
