What is the point of this kind of life, have they even got memories or thoughts? Is it just one identical day after the next floating in darkness waiting a year or two to get hungry?

Sorry not as good at English. I just mean to ask what is there for these sharks? They live hundreds of years just existing. Most have got crabs onto their eyes so they only sense cool and warmth, up to down, smell, and pang of hunger. And if water has enough air to breathe. Since they are sharks they must also sense electricity. So, what kind of mind do they have? For half of a century they just live to eat once a year and maybe to breed? To us it would be hell but maybe they are fine?

Or, for another example, female tarantula can live for thirty years or even more. But she is only a spider. Does she ever sit at the hole to her nest and think about her life, as a spider? Or is every moment just the same in her life, never being a before or an after only a now?

to pass their genes on, it may take up to two centuries for them to become sexually mature but overall they're pretty successful (they'll still get accidently wiped out by humanity in the near future though)

          >accidentally
Sir have you never heard of China? They'll hunt it to extinction to sell bullshit dick pills to rich chinks, and if you don't like it you're racist (according to the western media that China happens to own huge chunks of)

How did the recently discovered greenland shark survive for more than 500 years?

Simplest answer is the low oxygen and ice cold environment they're in slows their metabolism to a halt.

Not everything needs a purpose in life
My life basically involves eating and watching stuff on Netflix, my life has less purpose than that shark. Being blind would be an improvement
