What's your professional opinion on human x animal romantic relationships?

Is it possible to give your pets weight-adjusted doses of roids for humans? And if you do so, should you follow up with HCG as post-cycle treatments, or would you just wean them off the dosage after the cycle is over?

I've never heard of anyone doing that and I cannot in good faith recommend it

So probably go with testosterone instead of any orals/synthetics right? because orals are more stressful on the kidneys and liver, and many pets have weaker livers and kidneys than humans

Could you have a look at my dog's second eyelid or whatever it's called? My neighbour who' worked with dogs for 20 years says it looks fine, but I think it looks a little irritated. I notice her scratch her eyes with her front paws maybe once a day to scratch them but she used to do that before. She's around a year and a half, should I take her to the vet?

Do you treat small emergencies with animals?
    Or emergencies with small animals?
I guess the former since you mentioned Huskies

What's the most exotic animal you've come across?

I had someone bring a flying squirrel in once, that was neat. I've treated fish, birds, snakes, and other pocket pets too, but it's mostly dogs and cats.

It looks a bit irritated, but it's hard to say from a picture. If she's squinting, I'd probably recommend she get looked at because ulcers are painful and get nasty. It would be fair either way though.

Ty, and yes she is squinting. I'll check with the vet if it's not getting better by tomorrow night.

Of course! Hopefully she's feeling better soon.

I'm not a wildlife ecologist and won't pretend to know how or to what degree it would effect the local ecosystem, but in general, a good rule of thumb is don't frick with nature unless it's to unfrick human frickups. Parasites suck but they evolved to fill a niche just like mammals.

How uncommon is a simultaneous double infection of E.cannis and Babesia sp (minor) in border collie's ? Mine is 12 and is now recovering from a double infection. He still lacks stamina (wheezes a lot after walking for a minute ) but other than that he is getting better, breathing issues while sleeping are gone as well.

Anyways thanks for being a vet OP, hope you a bright future ahead

I wouldn't say common by any means, but tick borne disease happens. Glad he's doing well 🙂 thanks anon!

I'm running out of time to decide. Thanks for the response

You can always do zoo/aquarium/rescue stuff on the side pro bono and work your day job to actually make money. Although it's more competitive to get into vet school than med school, so if you aren't already gunning for it I'd probably be pessimistic about your chances unfortunately :/ I wish you good luck though

What's your salary? Is it comfortable for where you live? I'm in undergrad for pre-med but sometimes I think of becoming a vet for a zoo, aquarium, or rescue but the salaries look absolutely miserable when it's the same amount of work and debt for a doctor while a making a fraction of the pay

Has a husky ever actually been cooperative? They're notorious for allowing their owners to handle them but never anyone else

What's the worst case of an owner's inability to euthanise their suffering pet that you've seen?

Most of the time, people understand. There have been very few times that someone didn't want to euthanize their pet that was clearly suffering. The worst I had was a 7 year old golden with terrible cancer that had maybe 2-3 days to live. Very rare exception.

Maybe like 2/5. They're not always bad but they definitely don't like to cooperate.

I make about 180k as an ER vet. The majority of small animal vet jobs pay at least 6 figures but anything else isn't as great. Even though you don't do vet med for the money, you do it because animals are better than people, it's hard to justify those jobs. I wanted to do zoo med originally. Marry rich and do it if you can but otherwise it's hard to swing.

Maybe like 2-3 feet? We don't actually see most of the worms, they get shat out at home

I actually really love it. There are a lot of shitty parts, but I love dogs, I love getting to do the cool stuff I can do, and I get to help people and animals.
