Harvest Moon implanted an urge to raise farm animals into me from a very young age. So, now I'm trying to do that, so that's fun.

Tfw I wanted a dog. Loved Dalmations the most. Parents never got me a dog. They kept saying it would be a phase. Still thinking about it a decade and more later. Didn't even get to have a Dalmation in the Nintendogs game. Still love animals and Dalmations. At least they regret not getting me a dog.

When I was a kid, around when the live action 101 Dalmations movie got made one of my neighbors adopted a Dalmation for their kids and it was the most psychotic dog I have ever been around, they definitely weren't able to take proper care of it.

I remember it attacked someone at one point too but it didn't get put down over it.

Breaks my heart. Dalmatians are expensive, not only buying one but also raising one not unlike most pedigree dog breeds. I would see these fine breed dogs just running around like common street mutts on dangerous high-traffic areas just cause pleb junior or princess lost interest in the poor dog and these fat moron hispanics (I lived in a hispanic region back then) got tired or broke caring for it.

There was even a PSA on the local TV stations. It still breaks my heart thinking about it and it dissapoints me that it even happens in a more "developed" country like Japan.

This movie created an ecological disaster. They imported thousands of raccoons and when they matured and got cranky they released them the way the kid in the movie did. As a result raccoons are now an invasive species in Japan and have done a lot of damage to Shinto temples, among other things

Pokémon contributed in making me an animal lover more than any anime or manga with actual realistic pets.

They have both native raccoon dogs and invasive American coons that that take over the racoon dog's niche.

They used to sell baby turtles in cheap tiny plastic tanks in the 70s. A lot less information that moves a lot slower. But yeah, it is kind of amazing, looking back.

      >raccoons are terrible pets
its my dream pet since years, those people just have wrong expectations, like with many other pets.

Raccoons are good pets. My dad had one growing up in rural Alabama. It would lay on his shoulders during supper and he'd feed it crumbs.

its funny because the whole point of that anime was that raccoons dont make good pets

That's actually directly why they got released.
        >main character releases his pet raccoon when it acts wild as an adult
        >japanese people see that and decide to do it too because their raccoons are acting wild as adults

This happens to many normies. Being influenced by movies or games is just what happens. Like finding nemo making people buy fish and game of thrones making people buy wolfdogs.

      > Like finding nemo making people buy fish
KEK the whole premise of the movie is that nemo was separated from his father because someone wanted to add fish to his tank

this, it's seldom good for the animals.

I remember back in the 90s when the 101 Dalmatians and those Taco Bell chihuahua ads came out moronic plebs bought those breeds because their spoiled lil shits and dumb ho gfs bawwed about wanting one, only to be tossed out in the streets like some old broken toy.

Sometimes I hate kids and family

this, it's seldom good for the animals.

The Harry Potter movies lead to a number of abused, malnourished, and dead owls showing up to wild bird rehabs. Fricking idiots thinking owls make good pets. Still get a rare person coming in and asking how to get a pet owl (or raptor), though I suspect they are more inspired by videos of those terrible Japanese owl cafes than Harry Potter.

Frick this owl pet shit i hate it to no end
Even more so those who defend or encourage having an owl as a pet
There was one time i was in a pet store and this woman came in asking the emplee for food for her owl that she said outloud for the whole store to hear
Its only an object to brag about no other owl owner is any different
If you truly love a wild animal you wouldn't keep it as a pet

If I had the land for it I'd definitely try falconing.
I live in a subdivision though so I suspect I'd just get angry people showing up because hawkbro tried to take their small dogs and children.

The dogs in GoT were Norwegian elk hounds, not wolf dogs
