    >Be me at local park with gf
    >Two teens see a turtle chilling in the sun by the lake
    >They pick it up and start messing with it like if petting it but really just stressing the lil guy
    >More people start to gather around, families with children
    >They all look at the turtle with awe and take turns handling it like they've never been outside of their pods
    >About to go tell them to put the freaking guy down but they do it on their own
    >Turtle quickly jumps into lake to get away
Why are people so moronic with nature? Even if they werent stealing like the news in the OP I frankly despise them.

You’re not normal. You’re a tamed animal socialized on talking animal cartoons and odd religious beliefs.

Literally every single human being on earth is of african descent you dumb snow monkey. The history of man was thus
              >Evolve in africa
              >leave africa
              >evolve some more in asia
              >some go back to africa, some stay in asia and some migrate to europe
              >ones that go back to africa kill everybody that was a tad too stupid
              >leave africa again, interbreed to humans who stayed up north
              >go through over 10 centuries of conquest and migrations
              >you are here
Throughout all of that, except for the last 200 years and some religious wackjobs in asia, every human culture on earth saw animals as edible objects.

I'll say it again, raise a human without talking animal cartoons or weird hindu-derived religions and their natural response to any animal without forward facing eyes is to kill and eat it.

The simplest explanation is often the correct one, and pretty much every scenario you mentioned is absolutely insane.
        >Picture could be faked.
It's a video of security cam footage, so it would be almost impossible.
        >Could be a lifelike replica platypus
This is really the only one that has some basis in reality, but that scenario is still extremely unlikely, and why the hell did neither of them tell anyone that it was just an animatronic?
        >Picture could be of two dudes who found the stolen platypus and are trying to find someone to turn it into before the thieves were caught
That assumes multiple sensible things didn't happen such as the suspects not making any phone calls to police, not giving the story about how they saved the platypus to the people that they were showing it off to, and the suspects somehow not making it to wherever they were going before the police made a statement about it. There are multiples layers of insane unlikeliness that could have happened to "explain" this such as neither of them owning a phone DURING THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2023 and then not asking anyone for one, both suspects being contradictorily willing to show off the platypus to strangers, but being hush hush about the heroic tale of how they were able to save a platypus from someone stealing it (despite the fact that the saving of a platypus is arguably far more impressive than just having one in your hands), and also that they were somehow delayed on arriving the their destination despite how multiple witnesses were able to talk to police before then. Honestly, this just sounds like something a criminal would tell police upon being arrested for the crime.
        >Could have been an old picture
The police released a statement about it and there would be a date on the footage.
It's far better to a get suspect caught rather than focus on these bizarre scenarios.

australian male crayfish are an aggressive and solitary territory holding species
they will have a lower population than the signal crayfish in the same waterway area while actively wiping out signal crayfish populations, but they'll also kill every noble crayfish they meet
