Fuck people who abuse the support animal system.

Frick people who abuse the support animal system. I hate that people tote their precious little doggos around with fake pieces of paper claiming that their dog will be there to help save their life like medication when they just don't like going out to the store.
If the law deems a service animal helpful then fine, but the hypersensitivity by the people who actually dont need but fake things to hang out with their pets. If you need your dog to walk around because you're blind, fine, if they are trained to detect siezures and to give you medicine, great, but those animals go through rigerous training to be working 24/7 to save lives, pretending to do that is like stolen valor, and using that as a crutch just so people will let you bring your dog that wont stop howling into a restaraunt because you didnt properly train him to be around people let alone what actual service animals go through then frick you
Anyone got any ragefuel or comeuppance about fake service animals?

I think stores should let pets in unless there is a REALLY good reason not to, I don't have pets myself but I favour stores and malls that let people walk their pets in there.

That said, much like how I understand why some people should bike on the sidewalk, they shouldn't do it. If you don't live somewhere where pets are allowed in unless they are a medical aid, and you don't actually need it to be a medical aid, don't get a pet if you can't leave it at home or with someone on some trips.

It's all fine and fun until someone's pitbull or german shitperd gets loose and kills/traumatizes a smaller, friendlier dog.

It is always people with the worst personalities and dogs.
    >Be me
    >With my 8 year old cousin
    >Want to get her a cookie at starbucks
    >This woman walks into starbucks
    >Has a large poodle
    >Giant ESA patch on it
    >Clearly untrained as it is pulling on the leach and sniffing around
    >I tell my cousin "Do you want to ask if we can pet the dog"
    >This woman fricking snaps
    >"HEY ALWAYS ASK BEFORE YOU PET"
    >I tell her we were about to ask but now nevermind
    >She starts rambling off about how she has a bunch of disorders
    >yells in public that it is a service dog
    >I just walk away
    >Even my 8 year old cousin could tell that b***h was crazy
It is a fricking poodle, you don't have an emotional support animal, you have an untrained dog. ESAs should at least require training and shame on congress for making it so that you can't even demand documentation.

Off topic, but this is why I am against any "legal only for medical reasons" legislation, because anything that becomes medically legal, becomes de-facto legal.
This country is full of bullshit doctors who have free reign to sell prescriptions, bad behaviors and bad drugs to anyone who wants them. Frick medical weed, frick ESAs and frick jannies

I've encountered someone who registered her dog as a service dog with the excuse that she has narcolepsy, but it was mostly an excuse to bring her dog places. She said the dog really did wake her up when in a narcoleptic sleep, not that there wouldn't be humans to do that in a public place.

Dog was cute and quiet. I didn't mind

    >bring your dog that wont stop howling into a restaurant
Even a genuine service dog for a blind person can be evicted for this. No business has to legally tolerate poor behavior from its customers.

Knowing that, I don’t really care about fake service/support animals as long as they are well behaved. I don’t care about normal pets in stores or restaurants as long as they are well behaved. It isn’t difficult to train a dog to pass a “good citizen” test, and something like that should be considered the bare minimum for having a pet accompany you. There’s no excuse for dragging a poorly behaved animal around.

    >not dressing your dog up in a pilot's outfit and tell the people at the gate he's a pilot deadheading
There's no rule that says a dog CAN'T fly an airplane.

The emotional support animal thing is kind of gutted now. Since 2021 in usa airlines don't need to acomidate emotional support animals. Just service animals wich is a much higher bar and are pretty rare.

along with why people were mostly doing it.

can't move cross country via plane if you have a dog and care about what happens to them. you can't even pay extra for it. you can't fly them first class. not even $5k extra. you have to charter a personal flight.

because dogs use up gas and make them have to replace their air fitlers more often. still no word from airlines on how 50% of the passengers stink like shit, trash, or a prostitutehouse. maybe they should allow dogs on anyways to prevent another 9/11?

How about first frick the airlines that force dogs to fly cargo, and then deny responsibility when they die or are traumatized to the point of being impossible to keep happy?

Because that’s the source of “fake service animals”. The supreme israeliness of airlines.

this. I plan on registering my great dane as a service animal because there is no way I'd feel comfortable knowing the needy bastard was tucked in a kennel too small for him for several hours with the possibility of him either overheating or freezing to death.
If some single mom can bring her screaming 1 year old baby and sit next to me on my 11 hour flight to Europe, I should be able to have my Dane lying at my feet in the bulk-head seating section where he will be entirely quiet and maybe farting a bit if we're unlucky.

I remember there was a program earlier where truckers let dogs hitchhike with them, it was for an adoption program.

Im allergic to most all of the "support animals" that people use. Like I said, I'm cool with dogs (at a distance) and I've got no issue with ponies. In my area those are the only two recognized species of service animals. Take your cats home, they arent going to help you.

People do it because its very difficult to find a rental that allows for pets, and they are trying to scare landlords with legal problems.

In my state in the US, if you have your pet registered as an emotional support animal, you don't have to pay any additional fees/deposits upon move-in. I wish I'd found out sooner because the deposit on my cat was $350, and my roommate's fish was $500, I guess because of the aquarium setup's potential to leak.
