my dog was white with black spots and a black/brown face. when he turned into an adult he lost the brown coloring and when he was in his older years most of his black hairs turned gray, even the random spots.

The AKC's rules caused selective pressure towards dogs that naturally die at 12.

Kennel clubs should all be destroyed and the leaders forced work as prostitutes in army camps at minimum wage for the rest of their days. I cannot imagine the suffering organizations like akc or breeders have brought upon the world for no reason but vanity.

No, that's so that 18 year old pooches don't get laid and have messed up puppies.

18 year old pooches having healthy puppies is how a species evolves a longer lifespan. Longer healthy breeding age = slowed effects of aging (less degeneration and decay) = longer lifespan. Their children will inherit good health into their later years. There will be some failures, of course, but what does the AKC care?

These people used to gas puppies for lacking a literal deformity because it was not "continuing the tradition of the breed standard" and continue to encourage people to inbreed dogs over such stupid shit as the shape of the forehead and even penalize peoplefor not making dogs deformed enough

if your dog dies sooner, you can buy another dog sooner

              shorter lifespans = more sales

PROFESSIONAL BREEDERS HAVE A VESTED FINANCIAL INTEREST IN REDUCING THE LIFESPANS OF COMPANION AIMALS

It's not that calculated. Breeders always select for vigor and fecundity in early life. So does evolution actually, it's just not as good at it. The problem is something called antogonistic pleiotropy. The gist is that early life reproductive success is all that matters so if a gene gives a boost to that at the expense of long term health, that gene is still selected for. It's probably the reason we age at all. The more specialized the breed the more this effect takes place. Which is why bespoke breeds like Borzoi die sooner compared to ancient breeds like the Akita, or your wild dog breeds. Wolves of course, having no human interference, live the longest.

So breeders aren't callously and evilly looking for dogs that die quickly to sell you more dogs. It's just that everyone wants these breeds that are glorious at three years old and run like stallions, so breeders provide them, and the natural consequences of doing so result in your dog going white in the face and sleeping all day at eight. If you want a healthy dog, go find a Carolina dingo.

This doesn't apply to the ones who breed French bulldogs and other fricked up mutants though. Both breeder and client in those cases are perverts and sinners.

              >18 year old pooches having healthy puppies is how a species evolves a longer lifespan.
No, this has nothing to do with lifespan. You can't "evolve a longer lifespan" by having offspring late in life. There is zero effect on lifespan of the breed by doing that.

              >Longer healthy breeding age = slowed effects of aging (less degeneration and decay) = longer lifespan.
You are conflating coincidence and your imagination with causality.

              >Their children will inherit good health into their later years. There will be some failures, of course
Offspring don't inherit anything different from a 2 year old mother than from a 20 year old mother; however, the 20 year old mother will have much more difficulties giving birth at that age, and the offspring are more likely to have developmental or genetic disorders, the older the mother, since eggs do expire.

              >These people used to gas puppies for lacking a literal deformity because it was not "continuing the tradition of the breed standard" and continue to encourage people to inbreed dogs over such stupid shit as the shape of the forehead and even penalize peoplefor not making dogs deformed enough
These facts are irrelevant to your very poor understanding of evolution and aging.

reproducing for the entire lifespan means longer lived animals have more offspring, and those that do remain healthy enough to reproduce, which does in fact create selective pressure for a longer lifespan

there is a very clear reason wolves live TWENTY and dogs live TWELVE. the way dog breeders work is R selection on steroids - the dogs are to function flawlessly for 8 years and then you buy a new one. all they have to do in those 8 years is sire enough ltiters to replace them.
there is a very clear reason wolves have ONE heat cycle a year and dogs have TWO TO FOUR.

breeders. they actively select against lifespan for personal profit.

                kill your local dog breeder.

          >For the anon who didn't believe that dogs are greying when getting old
Not all breeds "gray," specifically. Some change color when they are adults and that's it. Some gradually change through their entire lives. Some literally get gray hairs in their fur when they're old.

This doesn't mean what you think it means. They can continue to age after having puppies. What the rule says is no breeding them when they're older than 12.
