No I haven't
I'm not on the Aquarist team, but generally they try to avoid touching the animals where possible.
When up close to her, I'd say her scales look a little more like the scales of our rays?
I've actually touched one of these dudes as I worked at an aquarium that was (and still is) pretty much hack tier and keeping them in a touch tank with other rays. They feel much like bamboo sharks in that they're very rough with their flesh being somewhat soft underneath.
>keeping them in a touch tank with other rays
we used to have rays in our touch tanks maybe ten years ago
now our touch tanks only contains sea stars, crabs, anemones, and a handful of molluscs, and by the end of 2024 touch pools are going to be outlawed here in the UK

I think it's pretty based tbh
You can't trust the general public to handle the animals correctly

I think the public (mostly kids) should handle animals to remember they exist and keep them in mind. It leads to more contribution to animal related matters later in life, like charities or votes for habitats

The government doesn't want people to support their local community or have any sort of attachments or opinions outside of those funded and supported by the aforementioned government. Diversity kills community engagement, which means a diverse citizenry only engages with the government, not each other.
But yeah, it's totally because they give a shit about the animals. And I've got a bridge to sell you.

Ok

its actually because people's hands are fucking filthy and can spread diseases to the animals
that’s of course a risk to the animals, but there are advantages that can be helpful too. raising awareness goes a long way, espec for city slickers who wouldn’t have a clue otherwise
citymorons literally dont give a shit about the environment in any meaningful way, if they did they wouldnt be living in a city, thats why a lot of die to stupid shit in wilderness, like that one retard who thought bathing in a volcanic geyser at yellowstone was a smart idea and fucking melted, not the first time that happened too

Wow, they are awesome. and they are huge too
We have a mature female in the aquarium I work at and she's around 190cm long
She's also super chill but so are most of the Elasmobranchii we have
have you ever touched her? wondering if they have shark scales or ray scales.

back half looks kinda like a whale shark
flat is justice
Just noticed how he is the perfect mix of ray and shark wtf
best of both worlds
pretty flat so the stealth of a ray, actual tail so the speed and agility of a shark
best all-round build really
