House cat's don't like water because their fur is covered in oils that give them a water resistant coat and getting dunked in water strips that off.
That being said there are cats like the turkish van and a few other breeds known to really like water.
I figure it is a lot like you or me. Going swimming or getting in a shower is a whole lot different than randomly being blasted by a hose, or pushed in a pool when you weren't expecting it.
it's the difference between water resistant and water proof and then there's water proof and water proof to 20 meters you can split hairs about it and play garden gnomewy word games but the meanings are pretty well established.
>eats mostly fish >no thumbs for a can opener
i don't even think they could eat tuna from a pull tab without a humans help. How did they make it in the wild?
Cats always go nuts over fish, what are you on about? Whenever i've given them any they end up licking the dish/can clean. One time i had to stop them from trying to eat the disposable aluminium pan some fish was cooked in just because it smelled of it.
Domesticated cats are dumb and mentally ill. Wild cats are not. We did this to make them more social.
Housecat hunt success rate = 30%
Wildcat hunt success rate = 80%
Basically we took a ruthless, unthinking bloodshed seeking missile with perfected instincts and knives for hands and turned it into a discount dog.
Why do big cats like water?
You sure that tiger is enjoying that water? He looks pissed as fuck to me

How many fish has it bought home?
Kek
No even kidding, my cat brings home mice and birds all the time. Never brought home a fish. I even live near a river.
Yeah because why would you bother with agile fish when you can catch fat, old or sick mice/birds.
Are the americans here in the room with us now?

You pedantic butthole. Dogs don't have a reputation as fish eaters, yet they're much less afraid of water.
There's one wild cat species (pic related) that loves hunting for fish. It could be that they all have some fishing ancestor.
