Dog Psychology

Do dogs sometimes like people who are more aggressive towards others?

My mom yells at me a lot from the couch, where my dog likes to stay most of the time. Sometimes if I try to keep my dog warm by covering her in a blanket or if I gently pet her, she'll growl at me. But it's only in that area. Outside of that area she's usually very sweet.

I'm certain that she sees my mom as the alpha, but it's still strange to me that she would growl or even nip at me because aside from bath time I do nothing that should displease her so much.

Some dogs are just dicks, especially If you‘re not their main person. My mom got one when i was 10 and the dog would always growl bark and snap at me. My mother took him to a dog school and he became more started to respect her but still was an butthole to me.

does anyone else become instant frens with all dogs they meet? I learned many years ago that the trick is to crouch down a let them sniff you. it's almost spooky how well this works

        Chasing motorcycles is fun, gay

Don’t you ever speed up and follow someone who’s going fast? While barking at them? Why the frick not? Live a little

If you have a dog, but you live at your parents house, is it really your dog? Sounds like you and the dog are both there by your parents permission.

Yes I've noticed the same thing, I find the vast majority of dogs are open to me, I also think it helps that I may have subtle dog smells from my own dog on me which helps build trust, perhaps the dog thinks "this guy smells like a dog he can't be that bad since the other dog must have liked him enough to leave the smell behind"

        >perhaps the dog thinks "this guy smells like a dog he can't be that bad since the other dog must have liked him enough to leave the smell behind"
it certainly raises their curiosity and sniffiness
also a protip: don't pet a dog you just met on the head, they don't like that since it's vaguely threatening. chin scritches and such are ok of course

I love my dogs so much bros
I regret having one, since it pains me to part away with it when the time comes
Why couldn’t dogs live as long as humans? This isn’t fair

Punishment and disordered, aggressive environments frick with dogs heads. They don't and can't see us like other dogs, and if they try they always come to the wrong conclusion. All it does is make them increasingly aggressive, especially towards everyone but their owner.

In this case the dog thinks that you are a threat to the couch and is trying to guard it from you because it thinks you get barked at for being too close to the couch.

This is the same way leash reactive dogs get worse. The owner reacts with them and they learn that they were right to be antsy because surely the dog/person must be a threat.

If my dog growled at me I'd beat the shit out of it and if it growled at me again I'd leave it tied up to a telephone pole outside the pound.
What kind of creepy schitzos are you that your dog would be aggressive toward you?

You're a terrible person if you aren't trolling. Kinda a terrible person either way actually.

We got her from a shelter like half a year ago. She also barks at other people a lot when we're out. She mostly hates people but I've been trying to work on that by letting her meet more nice people.

Usually she isn't aggressive towards me though, basically just when she's in that area.

My dog was food aggressive when she was younger.
Beat her fricking senseless. Now she loves when me or the cat go near her food.
          >shelter
I got my dog as a baby. You shelter Black folk are fricking creeps. Go pat yourself on the back, cucks.

Yell at her until she cries. That will show the dog who is the new boss in the house.

So my mother was given an Aussie and it absolutely hated me.

One of the things I hated most about seeing her is the thing would bark forever, and she would yell at it forever until we had both extricated ourselves from the man's presence.

I even whipped out a paper plate, but dog food on it, held it out for the lad to consume, which he did, but then he did this funny little pause and snapped my hand.

He would bark, she would yell, I'd go a little deaf every time after seeing her up 'til last time...

I don't quite remember my logic, I think the biggest thing was I just wanted to grab the leash, but at either rate, the moment I started holding onto my mother (because she's old, he could knock her over), things started to click into a realigned placement.

And the second after I got his leash, while I was holding her, I went from "CRUSH KILL BARK DESTROY" in his head to "I NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH I LIKED YOU" and the rest of my last visit was some disney moment type shit.

The barking went from "I HATE YOU" to "DON'T LEAVE ME" (because of course he still barked and of course she still yelled) but the point is how the context got switched up.

That's really about how simplified you need to communicate the situation to dogs.

You can spout off all the mad shit you want the mutt's only gonna process THE VOLUME.

      Think basic.
