It's on its way out, a synthetic replacement has been around, but one company had a monopoly on it, so no one used it. A second synthetic replacement is now available so synthetic should start overtaking the blood. The crabs survived the meteor, and they will survive the israelites as well.

It's not really confusing. Everyone uses the same scale so there are no miscommunications. Except when some dumb frick journalist is not even aware short scale exists, and translates 'trillion' to "trylion" (quintillion in my language).

Having said that, anyone who claims "billion" has two definitions is a moron. No, we're talking in English and there's only one meaning. It's like saying "pain" has two definitions because it's also "bread" in french.

and by that, I mean in the conceptual state. It's easier to comprehend when a different term is made for the next logical step. I assume you understand that and are just playing devil's advocate, though, and am clarifying in hopes to reduce shitposts (a forlorn effort here, I know, and still stupidly do so).

So the only reason you are fine with ten million and hundred million but not thousand million is cultural.
Otherwise you would complain about not having terms for them as well.
