Normiesplain this: if dogs care about their owners then why do scientific tests show that they always abandon their owner during a simulated home invasion?
If they do, they are few, far between, extremely simple, most likely single-step ideas, and do not have a linguistic component, instead being imagined sensory input. They likely have difficulty thinking for too much at one time even if it's the same thought several times in a row and get fatigued, similar to the experience of a moron or ADHD patient trying to solve a lengthy math problem.

Cats don't give a shit about their owner
Neither do dogs or any other animal including most humans when shit actually hits the fan.
