do these things work?

do these things work? seems like it'd be a great way for an indoor cat to burn off energy but I just don't see most cats taking to it

    >buy pet
    >spend money so you dont have to play with it
why even get a cat in the first place?

      >thinks running on a Big Wheel provides good enough mental stimulation for an ambush predator for it to count as 'play'
Why do you press post before you think?

I feel like they are good for already energetic cats, maybe, but it wont get a lazy cat to move.
    >have lazy cat
    >buy wheel for cat
    >spend months trying to get cat to use wheel
    >use treats to entice movement
    >cat now has learned that when it wants treats it should go sit on the wheel

Might have to train your cats (or whatever animal) on how to use it. Seems they can adapt if you help make it fun for them. I've been thinking about one of these, but the size takes up a fair bit of space (it still has to go somewhere that cats find it interesting), and I'm also curious as to how silent it is. Really don't need to be woken up at 3:00 a.m. every morning.

They can be noisy and unstable so skittish cats might not like them. Like any cat toys it's basically a crap shoot as to whether or not they'll want to use them.

Also like most cheap cat things you find online they're generally too small for adult cats and are really only suitable for young cats. If you buy one make sure you get a big one.

Also if you already have a treadmill you should try teaching your cat how to use it. A cat wheel has the advantage of the cat being able to use it whenever it wants, but if you're actually willing to spend time with your cat then you could make it run the treadmill for exercise instead.

there's lots of silly shit to buy for cats because owners feel guilty that they live cooped up indoors their entire lives. the cat doesn't want a big dumbass hamster wheel. it wants freedom

Why don't they make these for people? Electric treadmills break constantly and are expensive.

I don't have a cat, I just can't see most cats hopping on this thing just to run for the sake of it.

you entice them at first with a treat that you hold up and makes them walk the thing. if you have a high energy cat like a bengal eventually they'll do it by themselves

That cat needs to go on a serious exercise program. Also, ugly as fuck. Consider plastic surgery so the other cats don't make fun of her.

My sister has an apartment thats completely filled with crap like this. The funniest one to me is a robotic litterbox that "changes" the litter, but the cat just poops on the floor next to it anyways lol

there are bearings inside that enable the ring to spin as the cat walks on it
