Dinosaurs were normal animals rather than movie monsters, which means that many of them would have enjoyed cuddles and petting. The same goes for smilodons, cave bears, dire wolves and other kinds of deadly prehistoric megafauna.

I like how HG Wells even knew this when he wrote a brief history of the world in 1922 and it made people seethe then too.

            You're apparently doing that.
I ask again why so much paleoart shows non-flying theropods as having flight quills as opposed to rudimentary ratite-type feathers, and everyone starts seething.

I’m not though. Do you think I’m the one putting all those dastardly flight feathers in every piece of paleoart?

they aren't flight feathers, they're feathers of the same type that would later be used for flight

For someone who says feathergays seethe whenever they see a scaly dinosaur, he sure does sperg out every time someone posts a feathered one in the exact way he describes the feathergays doing

Why don't you walk up to a cassowary and try to pet it so you can spare the board from your threads

      Anonymous

not him, but you can pet wild emus if you know how to approach them. They're not too tricky I don't know how we'd get along with more carnivorous raptors though I wouldn't think it would be too dangerous or very successful either. I think they'd recognize how hazardous we are as a group and give us wide berth in most circumstances. We'd probably still have a lot of those rare and almost unique interactions where a goose/swan/ostrich (birds that under normal circumstances terrify normies) just loves some random guy. But like look at chimps they're super smart and like us and you'd have be mental to try to make friends with one.

Just hatch them and raise the like what we did with wolves.

Cassowaries are very standoffish, solitary birds. We have evidence of social behavior in some ancient theropods though. At least some ancient dinosaurs would have been amenable to pets, grooming, and proximity comfort.

maybe it's kind of hard to tell sometimes birds of prey tend to be weird with their affections. It's not like wieneratiels where just get within 3 feet of them and they put their head down to be preened.

Nah thats a happy bird. Raptors dont frick around if they dont like something
