I just realized that I don’t like animals enough to get a pet. I might enjoy stroking them couple of times and that would be it, but I would still need to do the copious amount of work.

Reading some posts truly made me realize how lucky I got with my cat.
Only did his deed twice in the 11 years I have him. Once he peed in the kitchen sink and another time he pooped in the shower. No joke, like he knew how easy it is to clean that.
And both times I can't blame him as I was just a lazy butthole who didn't want to get out of the bed and open the front door for him.

Aside from that very non picky with food and has no problems being alone/outside for longer periods of time.
    And cuddly.

    Love you Gary

No because there is cat hair on everything and it stresses me out you have to either do so much more cleaning that you would otherwise or accept everything in the house will be coated in cat hair. Especially in the kitchen where grease accumulates with layers of cat hair in between it, it makes an almost wattle and daub wall of reinforced hair on the side of everything or on the stove. They are so unhygienic and cat owners are deluded into thinking you can't live without them or your life is meaningless when really they don't give a frick about you they just want food. Every now and then you can have a nice meaningful moment with a cat but I think it doesn't outweigh cat hair on all of my clothes, skin, in my mouth, on food, towels even when things have just come straight out if the wash. It's because there is cat hair floating in the air, because especially when it's cold it's kind of necessary to keep the window closed so the air is more stagnant. Not to mention some cats spray on everything, or just intentionally shit and vomit under my bed or in the corner of the room if he is too lazy to go outside.

The only good kind of cat is an autistic one who brings me joy just to see him do foolish things and be a little moron and frolick in the garden. He just like me fr

Even then though I don't think it outweighs the hair on everything

Not to mention many cats catch tonnes of squirrels and mice and birds so the garden is much more devoid of life. However my little autistic cat is too slow for that

a snake would be amazing I would love that I think. I really like lizards but bearded dragons don't do anything all day. Maybe frogs, snake does seem like the best option though. However my uncle had two boa constrictors and one of them strangled one of his cats to death

He can't land very well on his feet like other cats occasionally I forget and drop him and he falls onto his side. Also he runs silly with his arms going out a bit from side to side. He can jump onto surfaces but not the whole way he can get to about with just his paw and head above the surface and then does a pull up to get to himself up. He LOVES cheese and is very well behaved though and doesn't try to steal food from me but just waits and looks and me purring

its a modern human. They don’t really live with other people. Even when they have kids. The entire family is anywhere but home except to sleep sometimes. So they’re so out of touch they hate animals their ancestors loved enough to domesticate.

The first year of having my kot was insanely stressful. I kept being afraid he didn't like me and that I wasn't making him happy. He didn't like laps and he barely tolerated me petting him. He peed on my bed a few times, I didn't know why, and it was impossible to get the smell out. I kept smelling it even when I wasn't home.
It got better though. He got comfy. He hasn't peed on my bed in almost a year and now he likes to sleep on my feet. He's my shadow in the house and I've learned that's how he shows he likes me. He still hates being held, but he tolerates me hugging him and just whines when he's tired of it.

  18. 2 years ago

Kind of. In many ways yes, but also they have highlighted how avoidant I am. I've lost them, I lost two dogs from old age, and I love my birds and they are more fickle than mammals and I lost them too.

And I realised I am horrible at dealing with grief. And have the reflex that I'm better off never growing close to or loving anything because I will, eventually one way or another, lose it.

How bad are you at training your cats god damn, i had 2 kittens adopted from the back of a store, it was like a week for them to understand where to piss, they also understood what to scrach and what not to scrach fairly quickly.

Also your cat might just not be comfortable with the cover, it may be sticking its nose to the wall oposite to the entry point and cant lean forward more. Thats one reason it may pee outside of the box, because it clearly understands you want it to piss in there. It is trying but you have to understand that basically all animals, cats and dogs too, are just morons, they may mean well but still may frick up, like this

berry cute. do you think snake have a certain degree of intelligence, or is it just smell?

        Anonymous

Other Anon here, but yeah I think so. I see it more like an appetite for exploration driven by a food response. My snakes come to the glass and knows which panel I open for the to let out. Active hunters seem to be more intelligent though, get a kingsnake and see what trouble that little fricker can give you compared to a large body boa or python. Check the youtube videos of Lori Torrini if you want to see how snakes can be trained, it worked very well for me.

For me yea, but I don't have anything too demanding.

I have a ten gallon fish tank with a Betta and I'm planning on adding a few other appropriate stocking. It's more the project than the actual fish I get enjoyment from, but the fish is no less entertaining. Little frickers here to greet me when I get home and begs for food constantly, or if he can't get it from me, he'll go to the other side of the tank trying to get my roommates attention.

Before that I was just sitting around on my weekends thinking way too much and not actually getting shit done that would improve my life. Now I come home, take care of him, and have a project to help me chill out for a bit and get out of my own head.

Once I get my own place I might get a dog, but in the meantime I can dog walk for my sister when I want to get out.

Thing is, you’d better be caring about them. Not only for not let them die, but also to give some sense to this whole extravaganza. I bet you don’t want to end up living with your animal like a roommate you don’t care about, but only keep because you feel bad giving it up.
