Yeah, they'd also eat human sized preys so I wouldn't try. I'm curious if they could eat a fat frick, and if so, could they fly after that?

The thing on the right? Absolutely. But I mean, it’s basically a flying crocodile. I’m sure you could saddle a croc up but then what? You think it’s gonna let you ride it or be trained to understand the cues to be steered/driven?
Sorry my bad no fun allowed.
    >could these things lift a human
easy, but probably in their talons or beak

Could a human (with a time machine, obviously) raise a quetzalcoatlus or other giant flyer from birth, then safely ride it as an adult?

no, because reptiles arent pack animals, theres no instinct to be cooperative with each other, cooperativeness is a key factor in domestication

birds can be pretty social and they are more closely related to pterosaurs than most (all?) living reptiles

            Anonymous

not really, its so far back the distinction between the two groups is so muddy that you have to guess which group it is, pterosaurs predate modern bird lineages and are in an ENTIRELY different evolutionary lineage, even then birds have 140 million years of evolution ahead of them, which means going back and around to reptiles is shorter for them than modern birds

i'm not convinced. they were warm-blooded, like dinosaurs and birds and unlike other reptiles. they might not be like birds but they're not like other reptiles either.

yeah, but that still doesnt mean they would have cooperation, like you can still be a social animal, but still be very competitive with each other, like most large predatory birds and crocodiles, birds mate for life and will compete will other members of their species, crocodiles will hang out in large groups, but each has to find their own meal

We know jack all about how they socialized, but all the ancient reptiles got to have hundreds of millions of years to evolve. To assume they didn't evolve traits we now only see in mammals seems a bit dismissive for no good reason. They stuck around for long enough for complicated social interactions like pack hunting or social grooming etc to evolve, die out and evolve again several times over in multiple clades. Where does the idea that ancient reptiles = dumb/worse than mammals even come from? why does it persist?

because theyre large predatory animals ranging across a relatively sparse area, and large, modern day, predatory birds do not cooperate with each that well, they will fight each other over resources, same with reptiles; so yeah pretty hard pressed to say that theyll have a high level of cooperation, smaller one are probably going to be more cooperative but we are not talking about those ones

Giant flyers are overpowered bullshit. How can any land animal hope to out-compete them?

By having herbivores that can eat leaves instead of limiting themselvs to energy rich nuts and fruits

By not having bones made of styrofoam probably.

Everyone gives too much credit to rock, dont get me wrong, its the true OG, but sharp stick was the real star of the show.

both of you are wrong, both rock and stick are good but stick-rock duo is best

Probably yes. Hatzegopteryx seems likely to have gone for large prey, indicating that it could manage to add at least a human-sized meal to its weight and still function. Its just about possible that would be enough to tip it over the limit for take-off and it would have to take a big shit before flying, but that seems like a pretty crazy pattern of behaviour even for an apex predator which would never have to escape anything.
