Islam is just a different flavour of Christianity which is a different flavour of Judaism which is an amalgamation of various Middle Eastern fairytales and basic early philosophy.

      It's not up for debate

It clearly says in genesis that their god gave every single animal a soul in the exact same way he gave adam a soul.

Conflates 3 separate concepts into one: life, the breath of life, and the soul. Not a valid argument. Animals don't have souls. Don't care, still love God's creation.

              Anonymous

Your separation of the concepts is based on mistranslation and gross misunderstanding. The life, the breath of life, and the soul are the same thing.

Animals have souls. You are committing small piece of the gnostic heresy - the belief in a separate "divine spark" and distinct classes of being. No. They are all the same class of being. There are no hylics or psychics. All living things have souls. But man alone was created in gods image, man alone ate the fruit of knowledge, and man alone was given dominion over the beasts of the earth. This is spelled out for you very clearly. Very literally. There is no special mechanism, it is that simple. This is why god tells you very clearly which animals you may eat, and how you may eat them, and how you are to treat animals. There are no contradictions, nothing said by an apostle changes a prior passage. All covenants remain in effect. God did not say "go forth and pick through the word for new meanings" nor "go forth and find an excuse". That is another form of heresy. A word whose origins might tickle you.

this, and you can't eat pork
                >but it's not what goes into a man's mouth...!
spoken in anger over a debate over... hand washing. why would it be about anything else? that was about israelites arguing over how and when to wash hands. next.
                >but the vision!
was literally explained in the following passages as a metaphor.
                >28 And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a israelite to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
when the bible tells you something is a metaphor it's a metaphor. you still can't eat pork or shellfish.

pigs are a christian animal. they symbolize actually following the bible as it's written.

Acts 10 and 11 specify everything has been made pure.

                Excerpt from acts 11:5-7
Starting from the beginning, Peter told them the whole story: 5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles and birds. 7 Then I heard a voice telling me, ‘Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.’

Acts is just peter retelling the story. The seventh day adventists are right moron. Being retold does not make it literal rather than the most heavy handed example of metaphor in scripture.

Also shellfish were never on the sheet. Why would a perfect god change his mind so, and so selectively? The answer is he did not. The covenant was not changed for one apostle. That was a metaphor for preaching to non-jews because the israelites broke the covenant doing shit like you’re doing now.

They have 3 different words in Hebrew, the article even cites them. The article you linked. They are three different things.
A baby in the womb is alive and has a soul, before drawing breath.
Lazarus and Jesus never stopped having a soul, though they both stopped breathing and stopped living for a while.
If I'm wrong, please do a better job of showing me how, because I do believe it matters.

The breath of life is the soul. It is breathed into creation by god at the time of creation and is then inherent to creation forever. Jesus had a soul. A dog has a soul. The difference is what standing those souls have in the eyes of the lord. One was created to be like God, the other was created to be a dog.

                Nope.
Souls are exactly the same. Only difference is the body and mind they observe.
Only difference between spiritual is the Infinite (God) and the Infinitesimal (all other living entities).

Yet it is worth it to distinguish between the souls of men and beasts. They were created differently.

                >Yet it is worth it to distinguish between the souls of men and beasts.
There is no difference in souls.
The difference is in body and mind.
And making such distinction almost always stems from wanting to exploit and kill those you deem lesser.

We were given divine instructions regarding dominion over the beasts and which ones we may eat and when and how they may be eaten. It’s not hard to wrap your head around. Everything past that is coping romans not wanting to change their diet.

                >We were given divine instructions regarding dominion
So claimed by the people that said only their tribe had souls.
Stewardship, sure. But this does not mean "let me exploit and torture and kill".
                >which ones we may eat and when and how they may be eaten
                The answer originally was "none".
And then when the tribes went to a promised land, they were again told "none", but they didnt like those answers.
                So God gave them concessions.
And then some Romans made shit up about how it's totally okay to put anything inside you.
But you prove my point - the only reason you say these things is so you can kill those you deem lesser.

You were blindsided by someone daring to have sources outside your precious Bible, and decided that quoting passages was somehow relevant.
You are naive, and now that you were called out on it you want to re-cast what you said.
So with that out of the way, it doesnt matter what the source is because all that will lead to is trying to attack the source instead of dealing with the import.
You are naive and very upset.
Calm down and go inform yourself of other philosophies.

You're still not backing down on your misreading, and it's making yourself look stupid to everybody but yourself. Why not just move on and engage with the discussion? Why deflect into insults and self inflation?
I'm well aware that non Christians exist, and you've made it clear that you are among them. What I asked, politely and directly, was what specifically you base your spirituality on, because I was intrigued and curious and ready to learn. If that wasn't clear at first, I apologize.
But you are projecting onto me:
                1. Your slippery debate tactics
                2. Your pigheaded wienersureness
                3. Your intent to tear down opposing sources
                4. Your upsettitude
None of which I actually share, believe it or not.
If you're not interested in sharing why you believe what you believe, then I guess we're done here. Just don't expect to convince anybody with that kind of obtuse rhetoric. Why post at all?

It wasnt a misreading, and your blathering only shows how upset you are.
There's nothing stopping us from sharing understanding other than your demand to cite passages rather than engage with the ideas.
Because you dont want to engage with ideas, you want to argue and cite books.

                Anonymous

You were happy to cite books (vaguely, incorrectly) when critiquing my view. Pic related.
And now your present characterization of my previous, very clear, post as "blathering" on top of your constant retreat from your own assertions, has unfortunately reinforced my assessment of your reading ability, as well as killed my last remaining hope that you might show courage in your convictions and simply explain why you believe what you believe, whether that be because you read it (or had it read to you by your caretaker) from a book, revealed in a dream, deducted from first principles, or what have you. Or which of the "other philosophies" you prefer. Or why.
Because so far, across all these posts of yours, the only reasoning you've given has been based on misinterpretation of the Bible.

I never cited anything. You have a bad memory.
And you still blather on, and with every post your pseudo-holiness is revealed to just be another naive, upset Christ-tard.
Still dont want to go back to ideas, eiother, because all you have is citing passages from a book.

He's just a heretic. Learn what a heretical sect is.

It's an interpretation or version of the bible that deviates from the holy roman church. Literally ANY interpretation or version of the bible that deviates from the holy roman church. Anyone who thinks they have found the real prophet, the real meaning of the bible, the books that SHOULD have been in the canon, reason to believe some of the books contain complete falsehoods, etc, is a "heretic". No matter how big their sect is. If you are not part of the holy roman church and do not subscribe to exactly what they say the religion is supposed to be, you are objectively a heretic.

But that doesn't mean they're wrong. The bible is, objectively, full of shit that is unprovable and as likely to be made up as any other shit and you could make the argument that the holy roman church has clandestinely edited and omitted things to suit their pursuit of power.
