I remember hearing from somewhere that if shaved a cat's coat won't regrow properly, resulting in lifelong thermo-regulatory issues.

        Anonymous

News to me. Shaving cats with matted coats is standard practice for grooming and veterinary practices.

It does make them look quite silly though.

        Anonymous

I don't know if cats have that issue (guessing yes) but I know dogs do as it fricks their undercoat up
It's a real problem with dumbasses owning huskys too far south

Huskies (well bred/working dna) actually develop summer coats where they blow their undercoat as fast as it grows, so they don’t need shaved.

The one that wants the shave is the guy emptying his vacuum once a day.

If a government would be covering things up, wouldn't they take down evidence of it posted on a local social media site? that second screenshot is of a douyin post. Even if it's possible for these to be coverups, i seriously doubt they would be doing them in public, in front of everyone, not caring that they're being filmed, in the middle of the day.

        >Couldn't this just be herbicides?
        No. Not likely.
Hand spraying, which is when you use a spray gun like they're doing in the picture, is primarily for spot spraying and not full coverage. It's more efficient and use a boom spray to spray out large areas like that. Herbicides, at least the ones that I've used, are normally either clear or brownish in colour, which is why you add dyes to the mix; to be able to see what you've already sprayed. As such the dyes are normally a bright colour, normally red, that stands out from the surrounding area. Using a green would defeat the purpose, as if the surrounding grass was green, it would make where you've sprayed harder to see.
With boom spray, while you can use dyes it's better to use a foaming agent, to create foam that will be "sprayed" out at the end of the boom, leaving a trail that you can use as a guide for the next run.

Thanks. It’s a Bong regionalism then. I suspected, but my other suspects were the Aussies and the Irish.

That's because we do call cats moggy/moggies
        However...

Its what bongs call feline mongrels to make them sound cuter than they are in reality. Compare the american term: “varmints”

        >Its what bongs call feline mongrels to make them sound cuter than they are in reality. Compare the american term: “varmints”
Not really. While it probably does derive from mongrel (i.e: a dog of mixed or no definable breed) it's not really comparable to something like varmint (i.e: a pest creature). While it can be used to refer to feral cats, moggy is normally used to refer to a pet, or otherwise domesticated cat. So a better word to compare it to would be mutt.

Are you sure? Maybe they're using a cheap version, or something. I live in Aus, and I've seen green weed spray once or twice before. I just find it hard to believe that they'd paint grass green when anyone who went there could obviously tell it was dead or alive. maybe they have to spray so much that they're not really focussing on spot spraying, and are just using what they have?

I would not consider what is happening in china today the result of their thousands of years of culture, since the communist party went to extreme lengths to jail or kill monks, martial artists, Falun Gong practitioners, spiritual leaders...
There was a similar band aid over a bullet hole mentality in the USSR. They kept sending people to the chyrnobyl area and covering up the story until the radioactivity spread so badly to europe that they were threatened into admitting it.

It's just a narrative the posters follow. Notice how they lump up socialism with communism, and how they blatantly disregard totalitarianism as the key factor. China has fascist rule to the point of having a social credit score system, a caste system and rampant nepotism, but all the issues the country has is blamed on socialism. It's pretty pointless to try to have a conversation in good faith if someone takes that angle.

the book was mostly about working out the technical and kinetics side of thing
pretty interesting but it only barely covered the actually crossing the alps part, but then again the development of the prosthetics he used was the meat of the work

Like another guy said Korea is actually closer to China in this instance but yeah Communism really did exacerbate a lot of the worst cultural/biological habits of the Chinese/East Asians like it did with nearly everyone else in some way of another.

What do you mean a “society like China’s”? Cuba’s economy is in the actual shitter because of its socialist policies and the people behave accordingly, they’re fleeing in record droves to the US and the rest of the Caribbean, sure they aren’t doing anything so bad as the Chinese are (arguably no one is) but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been negatively impacted them, maybe if they fricked up the environment that bad they’d resort to something like that but as things are they’re far more worried about where they can possibly move to or how they can acquire their next plate of plantain and Chicharrones

Where I live, the quintessential varmint is the prairie dog, followed by the skunk. Coyotes are varmints, I guess, but so are raccoons and mink and basically anything in the reg book as a "furbearer", but the wild cats are all extirpated. We get a lone cougar looking for a new territory now and again, but they are rare enough that no one talks about them except for in specifics.

Kek, i met the girl who got her hand bit by the tiger before it happened. She was the roommate of my wife's cousin. The cousin was moving out bc she was intolerable to live with, and he asked me to help move stuff out. She and her bf were there, talking shit the whole time to the cousin. Finally, they called the police on us for "trespassing." When the police arrived, we calmly explained the situation, and the police told the insane b***h to chill out and let us move. About 2 months later, she got her hand mangled by the tiger.

Think it was one of those "body farms" where they let donated bodies decay in different locations while scientists record everything.
It's important stuff that helps forensics and CSI people.

Studying how wildlife interacts with the corpses is a major part of what those places are researching; for example they could see how the teeth of the deer end up scraping bones, which would be helpful in cases where bodies are found in the woods, and forensics teams need to determine what damage occured before the death vs done by deer later after the death.

you should body farms are pretty interesting
a big part of it is to simply see what bacteria and other decomposers are active at what points of decomposotion so investigators can determine upon autopsy about how long it has been, if the victim had perhaps died in another location with different endemic detritivores, etc.

Mate eugenics is literally just deliberately breeding humans for desired traits like you would any other animal

I mean he's not entirely wrong

It's not quite pseudoscience but it's definitely more "this is probably what happened" than it is "this is definitely what happened". Lab techs and prosecutors just like to ham it up as being 100% absolutely true to avoid defense arguments against the use. Bite marks in skin are notoriously unreliable, yet have been used in many court cases as incontrovertible evidence
