I have seen how roaches are like the punching bag among bugs: spiders hunt them, scorpions hunt them, even a parasite wasp hunts them to feed their future parasite wasps! so i wondered...can roaches actually defeat in a battle any other bug or animal?
so roaches are like the punchig bags around insects?
Predatory wienerroaches with raptorial limbs used to exist and praying mantids are also roach-adjacent predators. They’ll eat anything that they can get if it can’t fight back or escape, so slow, immobile or moulting inverts are at risk. I watched a starved roach that had been living for months with a Steatoda I kept pull one of the back legs off a live cricket I put in for the spider since the roach was evading capture. I’ve heard of orange headed roaches attacking vulnerable live insects too
>Predatory wienerroaches with raptorial limbs used to exist
we are talking about today roaches
They’ll eat small bedbugs and other tiny insects and eggs. Mostly just opportunists.
only bedbugs?
They'd be destroyed by any social insect.
wienerroaches are social insects.
They eat slow moving smaller insects. wienerroaches are not 100% safe prey either, they can cause serious damage to spiders and wasps through the spikes on their legs. On hissing wienerroaches these spikes are so long they warn you not to feed adults to lizards and frogs because their kicks can puncture holes in their throat.
>They eat slow moving smaller insects.
can you name at least 3 different?
>wienerroaches are social insects.
No, they have no social structure, they can live in large groups but they don't work together.
not sure
not a chance
i love americans
Some roaches try to kick israeliteel wasps. It doesn't have a high success rate, though.
Do you think they could play football?
wienerroaches have no mental capability to understand man-made concepts like rules. Or games.
Could you like force it into their instincts somehow with some sort of experiment? like train two groups of wienerroaches to be rewarded with whatever wienerroaches enjoy if they can move a ball (maybe like a small crumpled paper ball) to an area?
the way I see it you would train group a to move the ball to the left and group b to move it to the right, separately. then one day you introduce the wienerroaches to each other with the ball and see what happens
they memory only last like 1 minute.
They already do
nah, they will be crushed
how much success rate?
the strongest roach
