Some are properly shit and make me sad but there are a few that do good conservation and research that are ultimately beneficial, on the fence with aquariums though

If we can put children on chairs for hours and force them to do math exercises to prepare for a future in a cubicle, why wouldn't we be allowed to let animals bumble around in cages and give them free food?

No. Zoo should only be around for scientist to study animals and animal conservation. Zoo animals need to be free and not keep caged up in sometimes inhumane conditions for the amusement of fat white primates and their dumb kids. Just have those kids watch planet earth. Some goes for for-profit aquariums.

Working in this industry I can say unequivocally: FRICK NO.

There is only ONE thing positive zoos do: they keep some species alive in captivity that are extinct or struggling in the wild. But they are net consumers of animals and most zoos don't have the slightest fricking idea what the frick they're doing and refuse to listen to anyone who does.

      Which country?

America, obviously, but I expect it's even worse in other countries. At least America almost never just kills animals because they feel like it, which is apparently all the rage in yuropoor.

Completely depends on the animal. I think the extremely intelligent creatures like apes and elephants may require a lot more effort and care (which I have seen zoos fail to address, especially with apes), but smaller and less intelligent creatures usually just want to bed fed and survive. It does piss me off a lot though with the gorillas. Hopefully its changed, but at the Denver zoo they have a pretty small enclosure and their indoor enclosure is just a concrete room with a few climb able things. Last time I went the gorilla was just sitting down, back against the wall, staring at the door wanting to go back outside. He wouldn't even look at the people he could clearly see. It doesn't take Dr. Dolittle to figure out that Gorilla fricking hates his life. But I've seen other zoos with really nice gorilla enclosures.

At the same time, even shitty zoos provide crucial genetic stock for the survival of great apes.
The one thing they do have is an elaborate worldwide breeding program, where they trade individuals between zoos to keep their offspring genetically diverse. That's going to be important some day when they're all extinct in the wild.
Arguably there wouldn't be wild mountain Gorillas at all today without pseudo-zoos like Virunga national park, since it finally gives Rwanda a financial reason to protect them.

If their pen is big enough and are entertained in some then sure. I think places like Sea World that have animals like Killer Whales go too far imo

Nobody uses "zoo" in any sense other than the place except the degenerates themselves.

Zebras are horrible. The grown ones are untameable and the hand raised ones are spoiled brats that will bite you if you look at them funny.

If zoos weren't a thing schizos on the internet would unironically believe giraffes aren't real and they're a ploy by government agents.

Depends on the zoo. From what I've seen its perfectly possible to keep animals stimulated and happy in an environment where they'll live much better lives compared to their wild counterparts. Even with animals that shouldn't be captive if they're taken from a situation already made worse by humans or some other factor or at the very least provide some educational value impossible to achieve otherwise I think its justifiable. All that being said, the second money or resources start becoming scare things can go to shit real fast.
