Are these lizards really a popular pet in other countries?

How did that happen?
I got pic related because when i was in highschool a pack of roasties were throwing her around the footy oval and i seen them doing it, poor bugger was pregnant with 6 babies too and these lizards give birth to live young they do not lay eggs.

So how the fuck did these lizards become popular pets in other countries?
I just don't get it because they are extremely hard to get to breed....
I have tried.
They just won't unless they have 0 human contact for like 5 years straight.
Like this girl for an example, she had her babies when i first got her and i have seen 7 different boys fight over her yet not once did she ever have some babies.

Great lizard OP, I used to have a few living around my old house. Now and then we'd see cute little babies. Good times.

Really fucked up that those girls were torturing her, wtf? People usually love them, I'm glad to say I've never heard of intentional cruelty to them before now.

Very weird. Eastern blue tongues are so easy to breed that even child doing it as school project could do it.

Never, only reason i wanted to keep her instead of releasing her into the wild is when i first picked her up she never once hissed at me even though she was pregnant and even till this day this lizard runs for pets like a dog.
Call her name and she comes running to my hand and snuggles in, wants to crawl up my shoulders then sits on top of my head.

My lizard likes sitting on my head, what about that seems hard to believe?
She prefers sitting inside a hoodie if that seems more believable?
This lizard is basically my parrot, i take her everywhere and have done for more than a decade.

                Good lizard.
Anyways stop being a pussy and buzz your hair down (it will still look better than the slow decay) or burn money on minoxidil + finasteride + dermarolling to try recovering it. You could of course get some hair plugs from Turks but again, money.

You just described why they are popular. They are generaly placid and curious. Plus they are generally a bit more interactive than beardies (when they are not sleeping buried in substrate) and skinks just look goofy and cute.

Well they are smarter than most lizards so i guess i can kinda understand it but how exactly did they become a popular pet?
People in Australia rarely have them, i know 0 people who also have a pet blue tongue.

I got one that I've had for around three years now. Is actually a wild one though that I took over caring for who my supervisor from work an his family had for around 5 years. Apparently got stuck on some adhesive and they decided to keep him (or her) after healing.

Doesn't like being handled, so I just leave alone for the most part. I like talking to him though and get some good interactivity when giving food, and try to look after as best as I can (certainly better than what they were).
