Sometimes I like to pretend to have a farm so I can fit in here and a few other places and help people out with animal questions, but all I have are my animal books and old Nova documentaries.
I cant afford to buy a farm yet so in the meantime I've made up a pretend dream farm.
I have about 12 dairy goats that I raise and sell, some guineas to keep away predators with their incessant screeching and keeping the garden clean of bugs, chickens for meat and eggs, two cats to eat mice and pet, and a few honey bee supers that I keep by a shade tree so they don't toast in the summer. I would like to better establish an ecosystem here and work hogs into the picture, but I haven't read much on them yet and not so sure how much I would need to grow to keep them fed till slaughter.
It doesn't make much money and takes a lot of work to keep up since affording the feed would be too much, so I range them or grow the food that's needed. Its hard work, but its living life compared to wasting in my apartment.
Anyone else?
I have a dream farm too 🙂 I don't want animals IRL though, so I just keep to my imagination
what animal is that?
i just bought a house on some land but now im too broke to put animals on it
>guineas to keep away predators with their incessant screeching
Are these supposed to be gigachads?
They are Italian-Americans
I wish I had the real estate to have outdoor frog ponds and raise emu from hatch.
i want to one day have a monyet enclosure with maybe 3 or 4 northern pig-tail macaques.
i want to enjoy petting and interacting with them while they're baby monyets, but i wouldn't touch them much when they're grown just for safety. i know how to build the pen. but i am a poorfag, so this will likely never happen.
I'd love to have goats
I'd want to have a pack of goats and a dog to protect them, they would be friends
beehives need to be kept in the sun or else they get mite problems

I live in the south. It gets really hot here. You can cook a egg on the hood of car on most days. I'm afraid the direct sun might bake them alive.
Nice thread, but can't you play a farm simulator game like Harvest Moon?
why is he sad about his bees?
I got this image from another post on here a few months ago where the anon was sad that his bees were swarming and leaving the hive.
And I could play a game but I just cant do it anymore. I recommend Stardew Valley for anyone into Harvest Moon. Its hard to play games anymore because I feel like im wasting my time when I could be getting ready for my real farm so I read books instead until one day I can buy land.
Sounds comfy fren.
My cat died a year ago and while I miss him I don't wish I had a new pet of any description. I'm just happy being alone for now.
I'm sorry. You'll come around someday. You could try a turtle, that's what I'm thinking about doing.
I would brush them every day and train them for milking with treats on a stand.
Monkeys would be so cool! You could train them to do tricks then put on a show in the city for money.
My parents have land but want to sell it so they can go on trips around the country. But all that it will get them is a trip to a creepy county care home where they test drugs on elderly people because nobody cares about them. There's nowhere else I could put them and we both dont have any money so thats where theyll go.
Goats, chickens, cows, cats.
A lot of poop and monotonous tasks, but rewarding at the end of the day.
yjk what rewarding you mean
I actually own a small hobby farm, so no I don’t have to imagine. Cant you just use your family’s land for livestock?
>family's land
Sorry, we don't partake in the burgeoise practice of responsibilty, forward thinking, and preparing for future generations.
