You cannot expect anyone to believe you solely because your assertion cannot be proven wrong.
The burden of proof or disproof is on you, not on me.

As with all paleontology, everything except direct fossil evidence is pure conjecture - because we weren't there and we do not have any crystal balls to look back in time, no matter how certain people posture as clairvoyants who claim to have cutting insight into the daily lives of dinosaurs (primarily based on hunches, feelings, false assumptions).

Paleontology has taken a massive lurch towards sophism. Paleosophism.

      >Guys, look at me! I'm a troll! Seriously guys, pay attention to me! Look, I don't read stuff! Isn't that so edgy and interesting!? Please keep paying attention to me being a mouthbreathing contrarian moron, I will starve to death if you pay attention to anything that isn't me for 5 seconds!"

    >no goy, spinosaurus could've never been a swimmer despite the fact that it had webbed feet and a giant paddle tail
    >T-rex tho? 100% a swimmer

Tall two legged animal in a mangrove inland sea environment that eats big bodied four legged animals. Not really all that crazy to think it would just run prey down in that setting.

anon has a point. Have you ever tried running in a pool?

Could you at very least glance over the paper before posting? It's open access for frick's sake, OP included the link. It's very obvious that you both either did not view the paper at all, or are completely illiterate. I know this because the paper discussed water resistance extensively. Water resistance was kind of the main point of discussion in the paper, so it would be impossible for anyone to miss if they had actually read the paper.

Yes, running in a pool is slower. Good job! What an excellent observation, dipshit! But if you (bear with me here) so much as skimmed the open-access paper that OP linked, you would have known that the authors concluded that motion is slower in water. Even if you hadn't read the paper, based on the title, it is addressing T. rex's "locomotory advantage to hunt in a shallow-water environment." Did you know that the slowing effects of water would affect both T. rex and also prey animals? And that due basic fricking geometry, larger animals will be less affected by water resistance? Muscle mass increases relative to volume (distance unit cubed), but water resistance increases increases relative to surface area (distance unit squared). Therefore, water resistance exponentially decreases relative to body size. And that's just a first order approximation which any person with even a little bit of physics or biomechanics would be aware of. The model used by the authors is much more complex than that. Illiterates like you are the reason no-one takes Wauf seriously. Would it kill you to read at least one simple thing before posting?

I cannot vouch for the speed estimates from the paper, since speed estimates from fossil evidence are always controversial. Nor does a shallow-water advantage prove that T. rex was specialized to shallow-water hunting. I'm just posting because I am disappointed. No one is even going to bother reading so much as the abstract of the paper they are criticizing. Fix yourselves.

where did I talk about politics moron? This is a paleoschizo thread, so people will either say t. rex had gills, scales and reconstruct it as a fish with legs or imply that merely entertaining the idea of animals walking in shallow waters means you want everyone to cut their wiener off and frick their life up with hormones. Stick around and you'll see that I'm right, it's just how these shit threads are
