Future paleontologists would reconstruct this as some sort of opossum anteater.

Good, they shouldn't, unless they find hard evidence of such, that is. Conjecture and speculation must remain grounded, and scientists who want to make some big wake take it to literal meme tiers of make-believe. 100% of you are featherfags still coping over T-rex.

Feathers can be repressed into scales though.
        >but muh ostriches!!d!
Not all animals evolve the same, apparently.

They would definitely know there was something weird going on, a little animal doesn't need such a heavy frame. They would probably turn him into a big chungus porcupine.

You know, I'd never seen pangolin teats before. I'm genuinely really surprised there are only two. I always assumed most quadrupedal mammals had four to six based on the examples I can think of, but now I realize that might have been misguided.

I know this is a thinly veiled shitpost thread, but just how much variation in breast number is there among non-primate mammals?

generally mammals have twice as many teats as the number of offfspring they birth at once.

Opossums have thirteen, arranged in a circle with one at the center. Like a clock. All in the pouch.
Spotted hyenas are another with a just two, rather unique among the living hyenas, which usually have six. Rarely, another pair of non-functional nipples can develop. Though I've only seen one photo of that.
Those are the interesting ones I know about so far.
