A man tried to kill a bull moose with a bow

and the bow injured him so badly that he might die. What does Wauf think of this?

Frick around and find out. If you're going to go after something large and dangerous you better kill it on your first attack or you won't get a second chance. I don't know why people think that humans are somehow exempt from the food chain or the rules of nature. Based moose proved that the weak should fear the strong.

It's more that they would die sooner rather than later, preferably before killing you and or running off injured never to be seen again. I don't really see the point of a bow where I live at least you can hunt with a rifle all year around, you can stalk in just as close as you like with a rifle or also take challenging long range shots.. unless maybe you couldn't own firearms for some reason, couldn't get licensed or whatever. But some places people can use them outside of season, or maybe they just like them, each to their own

Yeah right and people say Australia has dangerous wildlife lol. The most dangerous land mammal here is a fricking kangaroo and they get btfo'd by wedge-tailed eagles

There are not enough deer in the woods for every man or even half of them. We have way, way more people than deer, the problem with deer is there's so little forest land left we still have too many deer. Because there are so many people.

If you want to pull the self sufficiency card, hunting is a red herron. consider that it is illegal to have livestock in most cities and towns, even hens, and in other places it is even illegal to grow a garden on your own land. You can only have grass and inedible landscaping. This is to keep you dependent on centralized food production. Hunting is just noise to the oppression machine. It's a small minority of people putting a large amount of effort into a small minority of their food. Hunting does more to keep you enslaved than it does to help you. There is a massive industry built around selling you useless shit and complexes of laws obliging you too, when back in the day your granddad would shoot deer on the side of the road with a .22.

Not to mention their obectives and bullet types are totally different. A soldier doesn't care about preserving the pelt/mantle piece of an enemy combatant and will be using FMJ rounds and aiming for upper torso or head shots to dispatch quickly and efficiently. A hunter wants to do as little damage as possible while also killing the animal and will be aiming for heart shots that aren't often immediately lethal. Guy in OP was an idiot for not using a deer blind tbh.

            Anonymous

They use FMJ rounds because some snobby eurocucks got mad about hollow points giving superior countries with superior manufacturing bases (AKA the US) too much of an advantage over their enemies. If it weren't for them armies would be using mechanically actuated high expansion, time delayed incendiary .50 caliber armor piercing rounds on enemy personnel.

Hunters just use .30 caliber jacketed softpoints.

Bow hunters always have some moronic rationale about "giving the animals an even playing field" or some shit, so he really can't complain about getting heemed by a moose.

You can use a bow throughout all of hunting season in Colorado but there's only 2 or 3 rifle seasons throughout the year. Plus, the low moisture creates high fire danger and guns will be banned on random days because of the potential to start a fire. It's not always about ego.

My aunt used to be big into triathlons and shit and likes in Colorado and I've heard if you're running or biking you gotta always be on the look out for mountain lions.

Depends on where you go. I've seen cattle, snakes, and deer on bike rides. Moose, pika, and marmots on hikes. No cougars but my co worker got one of them and an elk in his back yard (not at the same time).

Some bows are pretty strong. Arrow would sometimes pass right through even something as big as a moose. But not going to instantly destroy vitals like a bullet that makes a wide cavity, broadhead is going to more slice it's way through like a small spear so the animal may have time to run away for a bit or charge unless the arrow has literally gone through the heart or aorta

Eskimos were hunting polar bears with shitty bows and arrows for thousands of years. It just requires a lot of skill to sneak up on the thing and land the shot perfectly the first time. And keep in mind, they told Soviet soldiers in the arctic that you could mag dump a Kalishnikov into a polar bear and it'd kill you before bleeding out.

Due to wolf extirpation, deer and coyote are vermin. They HAVE to be hunted or they will cause even more ecological damage.

Elk, caribou, and moose hunts on the other hand are totally pointless and only exist to make the staties another few thousand. We do not have a surplus of elk or moose. In fact, we have a deficit, and staties will do dumb shit like blame wolf reintroduction for population deficits when the real cause is hunting permits suppression the population. If they simply told hunters to frick off, wolves would not be a problem for those animals. Of course if they left the wolves alone, deer overpopulation would not be long for this world and profits from hunting tags would plummet as the populations struck a balance and it became impossible for humans to kill additional deer without harming the ecosystem. For this reason, they hold wolf culls and lie through their teeth saying this:

"Wolves are overpopulated and are threatening the deer population"

You have no idea how much of a fricked up racket hunting is. It's needed, but for the wrong reasons, and if we fixed our shit it would not be needed, so they keep fricking up instead.

I get that they use loud dogs intentionally to get to the animal but I think its fricking obnoxious and ruins the hunting experience when you have to have 3-4 little manmade abominations walking all over the animal that you are supposed to track and kill.

              Anonymous

You'd have a hard time ever running into a pig in that terrain without them though. They're hunted quite heavily and one sniff of you and they'll be sprinting away and you can't really run after one through new growth bush it's thick as a jungle. Some are quite crafty if they have encountered dogs before as well they might run off in all different directions or something. I guess it's a matter of fact, meat in the freezer, pest control kind of hunting.. it works. Or you can sit out quietly at night and blast them when they come into open farm land.. things will soon enough make a paddock look like it's had a plough run through it

There's truth to that. Cougars are just dumb cats and if they think you're running away from them (such as running a triathlon) their hunting drive gets triggered and they might chase. I grew up here learning to never turn your back on a big cat and especially never run from one (running away also applies to bear
