>3 year old cat never been outside
>ran off 2 months ago and came back pregnant two weeks later
>decide to play kitten sounds to her just for shits and giggles
>starts meowing at me and rubbing her head against my hand, now won't leave me alone and has spent the whole day checking up on me/sitting on me, also shedding a lot of hair
Unironically what did she mean by this?
She's very caring and clingy by the way, follows me around everywhere, every time I raise my voice she comes to check on me and seems to get really scared if I appear dead and sniffs me under the nose if I don't move while in bed but this is just too much even for her. Is it just her instincts or?

definitely a moron for not fixing your cat fast enough, but I was the same moron too so i'll help you as best I can.

    >she's probably going to be giving birth pretty soon.

not a whole lot of help you can do there besides maybe clipping an umbilical cord if she's too exhausted to chew it off herself.

Google will tell you how to care for newborn kittens. Don't bother trying to move them from where momma decides they need to go. She'll just move them back. So its pretty important to find spots and just keep some old towels/shirts laid out just in case. keep whatever blanket she's found rotated out with fresh ones and clean or else you might have a kitten getting an eye infection or something from rolling around in their own pee and poo all day.

Keep momma fed and hydrated as best as you can and check to make sure all her kittens are latched and getting fed. The big kittens will push the runts off but you can pretty easily keep them all latched as long as you keep a watchful eye on them.

She'll get annoyed at the boys after a while and might try to run them off. It's pretty scary watching momma cat getting violent with her babies but it might happen. Do your best to make sure you have homes for these kittens to go to before they are actually ready to go. Clean your fricking house and get ready for guests to see the babies after a couple weeks. It's good to get them socialized early and generally, the younger a little kitten is, the easier it is to get them to go to loving homes. You do not want to take them into a shelter if at all possible.

Something like 1 in 5 kittens don't make it, but with such a small litter you might luck out. Just make sure they are all warm and they are all eating.

    >cat came back pregnant
Why didn't you fix your cat moron?
You should be fined for animal abuse

    >Cats are severely overpopulated to the point that people are feeding and caring for entire colonies of ferals and catborne rabies is actually on the radar. No cats should be born except from breeders maintaining good domestic bloodlines until we solve this.
    >Shelters are jam packed with cats and cats make up the majority of animals euthanized.
    >Many cats make terrible pets because they're accidentally bred from semi-feral animals that have partially undomesticated themselves, which makes them more aggressive, dirty, and antisocial, harming the reputation of cats.

I don't care if you let your cat outside as long as you can keep it out of the road and other people's lawns. Fix your fricking cats. Most of those kittens will be euthanized as adults.

          Intact cats belong outside
But having cats outside results in their early, painful death
And the only right thing to do with all the kittens is gas them

So do you want a neutered cat, or a mercy kill for the entire species?

              >cats get into fights, kill each other, give eachother diseases
              >cat shit is in every patch of dirt
              >every other corner smells like cat piss
              >many feral cats have rabies as volunteers can not take care of every feralanimal
              >bird population in town practically vanishes, most of the birds were fat and blind to danger and were easy prey to the cats
              >rat population remains steady, but may have gotten sneakier to avoid cats
              >coyotes enter town because cats are fully domesticated and incompetent at survival in the wild, and therefore easy prey
              >now you have coyotes. and rabid coyotes, on top of all your problem cats
              >rabid feral cats also spreading rabies to raccoons, skunks, etc
              >welcome to 20th century america
              >bob barker begs you to spay and neuter your pets
              >mass animal control push because of the public safety and environmental disaster
              >millions of cats and kittens gassed in crude co2 chambers because there's too many of them
We have been through this before. Being a bleeding heart liberal homosexual over cat nuts causes constant death and destruction. Cats are not dogs, they can not learn to live with their instincts if they have a good owner. They just become aggressive, obnoxious vermin that breed like rabbits. The cats are happier neutered and kept indoors.

I believe we also went over this with leashing dogs. Bleeding heart homosexuals said durr that's slavery and then a pack of semi-wild german shepherds ate all their kids.

What I said is still true, no matter what.

If there are too many cats and bird populations are falling significantly, ban further adoption of cats for a time.

If you live rural, you could have a normal cat run free outside with no problems. It might get worms after a while but they can be dealt with pretty easily by putting an antiworm agent into some wet food like tuna fish or something. Worms don't actually impact the cat physically from what I've seen, in terms of fitness and behaviour.

I'm more of a dog guy anyway but my family has cats, so they are family.

Yeah, it makes them behave better. They never try to sneak out the house, they aren't nearly as territorial, the boy doesn't piss in random places, the girl doesn't shove her ass in everyone's face during what would be heat, neither of them have to deal with the frustrations of having a sex drive and they're so stupid they know none the wiser. seethe

            Anonymous

Yes it changes their behavior because their sex hormones are gone

They aren't so smart they lament the loss of it. Maybe a clever dog would be sad and uncomfortable for like a day, but again cats are not large dogs. Large dogs are several orders of magnitude smarter, and their bodies are under more stress so having sex hormones for most of their life can be beneficial to them and their higher intelligence allows them to learn to moderate their behavior. With cats and small stupid yapping dogs sex hormones just make them more obnoxious and aggressive and they do absolutely nothing to make their small bodies any healthier. They're also so much dumber any chance of them caring is nil.

If you do not have a single large dog and a lot of time and effort to dedicate to it, spay and neuter. Theoretically if we owned big cats as pets this would apply to them as well, because neutered tigers would have more hip injuries and fear aggression or something. There's really no argument against this.

Cats are not smart enough to give a frick about neutering. Cats don't even experience any negative health effects from neutering and the surgical risk for them is very low. Small animals are hardy. Are you a large dog gay? Because not all animals are like large dogs and get 7 weird untreatable cancers, a joint disorder, and a mental disorder if you neuter them. Small dogs and cats are actually much healthier for it.

Behold, domesticated man. Even in the worst case scenario, it is better to be killed than not be born at all. You can castrate your cat, but you do so purely for your own convenience. The fact you're using a newspeak euphemism like "fix", implying there is something broken that needs to be repaired, is telling: wholeness is deficiency, infertility is health.

Yes cats are indeed broken to begin with. Domestication was half assed and they are poorly suited to being pets unless caged due to their low intelligence. Neutering solves all problems here.

            >bro cats aren't domesticated
ok go pick up an african black footed cat and tell me how it goes. just because it is a stupid, obnoxious, and nearly asocial animal does not mean it has not been domesticated. it merely means that there was so little brain there to begin with that the shrinkage associated with domestication made it impossibly moronic. cats are no more wild than pointy eared dogs which are also quite a bit dumber than their wolf kin. for example two wolves can figure out that if a rope is attached to two poles on a platform, they need to pull it in unison to drag the platform out to obtain the food on it. dogs can not do this. and now, lo and behold
